Given your read of Cas Anvar being completely absent from any promotion for Season 5 of The Expanse was that that was a sign he hadn't been fired from Season 6 for his probably-legal-but-skeevy treatment of fans, I actually have far more doubts about Gina Carano's future in Star Wars than I did five minutes ago based entirely on this post.

If I don't see evidence of something, I'm going to dismiss speculation until or unless evidence surfaces or I'm otherwise definitively proven wrong.

And there is currently no indication that Gina's personal viewpoints and offscreen behavior - regardless of how distasteful some might find them - are going to affect her job with The Mandalorian or, possibly, with Rangers of the New Republic should the character of Cara Dune be planned to be a part of that series.

This isn't about "differing opinions". Actions should have consequences. If someone is publicly spreading objectively harmful rhetoric, it's entirely reasonable for their employer to decide they don't want to do business or be associated with their anti-masker, virus spreading, transphobic arses.
If there's one thing The Mouse doesn't like, it's embarrassing associations, and she's not nearly worth enough money to them to go to bat for.

However, Lucasfilm has not given any indication that they have taken - or will take - any action against her based on those viewpoints or behavior, and since I do not like to traffic in speculation or assumption, I don't currently have any reason to believe that her job is in jeopardy.

Actually they probably would have but from what I understand John Favreau is of the same mind as you in that as long as her views don't affect her work on the show, He's not about to fire her; and Disney is going to go along with that because John Favreau is The executive producer of a hot Disney+ show; so the Disney suits don't want to piss him off.

I could have sworn Favreau said they'll be shooting season 3 after tBoBF airs. Which I took to mean they're having an 8 month longer break in so they can focus on getting all the new shows off the ground, but if this is accurate that's clearly not the case. Favreau must have a habit of misspeaking because I'm also pretty sure this isn't the first time he's gotten the semantics mixed up.

On Good Morning America Favreau said production begins right after they are done with Boba, and that pre-production was already underway at the time.

Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune on The Mandalorian, will no longer be on the show.




In a statement obtained by io9, a Lucasfilm spokesperson said the following: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

The news comes after a day in which the hashtag #FireGinaCarano trended on Twitter throughout the day. The night before, the actress shared an anti-Semitic story on her Instagram. It was soon deleted but many fans captured it and shared it on social media.

That, of course, came after months of complaints about Carano’s online presence, including covid denialism, the encouragement of sedition, and transphobia.

Carano’s character, Cara Dune, was one of the main characters on the award-winning Disney+ show. And it was assumed, though never confirmed, that she might play a role in the upcoming Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic show. That, apparently, is not happening anymore. Even if it was.

At the time I wrote this, I was making a joke.
