The Mets just absolutely fleeced the Indians for Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco. And with that move, the Indians' 2021 payroll projects to be just south of $50 million.

The Indians were once a farm team for the Yankees.

No surprise there.

The Cleveland Rays?

Reminds me of the early days of the Cubs rebuild, when they actually gave a shit about winning baseball.

Then they fleeced Cubs fans and sat on their hands for the last 4 years.

Per the LA Times, a former Angels employee used to give a ball-doctoring substance to a whole bunch of Angels players. Eventually, he became the distribution source of that substance to a whole bunch of players on other teams, and the Angels and MLB knew all about it and turned a blind eye.

I can’t wait for all the moralizing about something that was almost certainly more widespread and definitely was winked at more than PEDs. It'll be another amazing round of No True Scotsman. "You see, the good cheaters cheat like this...."

RIP to the mortal enemy of baseball mascots.

My main memory of him was him falling flat on his ass at an All-Star Game when an errant bat came in his general direction.

But still, homophobe. Fuck him.

As Red-legs fan-atic,

I always hated the Dodgers cuz we was all in the old Western division, along w/ the Braves-- which never made any sense--but those bastard Dodgers had some damned good teams, and Tommy was hard to hate but I managed it at the time.

Time heals.

The Phanatic had the last laugh; Lasorda's a corpse and the Phanatic is still the best mascot in MLB.

I realized that my scorn of Tommy Lasorda may have seemed out of nowhere, so allow me to explain.

Lasorda's son, Tommy Jr., was very gay and was very open about it, to the point that he was openly dating a Dodgers clubhouse attendant. Lasorda constantly dodged questions about his son's sexuality, and even when his son was terminally sick with AIDS, Lasorda claimed that his son had cancer. When Tommy Jr. died--of AIDS--Lasorda said that that there was no way his son was gay, and that the stories of his son having AIDS were also equally true as tabloid reports that a woman gave birth to a live monkey.

He continued parroting the cancer narrative after his son's death, basically pissing all over his boy's grave.

That one is difficult too "like", nevertheless...yes i remember that Horse-shit.

^One of those times when I wish we had a wider range of reactions on this board. I appreciate Timby's explanation, since I wasn't aware of the history between Lasorda and his son. Lasorda's attitude and behavior were reprehensible.

I recalled there was something awful about him but I couldn't remember the details. Thank you for the refresher, Timby.

Kyle Schwarber to the Nationals on a one-year, $10 million deal.

So long, Beefy Lad. You were cool in the World Series, but you're fat, footage of your defense is used to torture prisoners at Guantanamo, and I have a better chance of finding a million bucks in my bedroom closet than you do of hitting left-handed pitching.
