Visiting the Mirror Universe

During the recording of my latest podcast episode, somehow my co-host and I got on the topic of how delicious it would be to see the Lower Deck'ers go into the mirror universe. We were starting to laugh at the idea because we know how terrible Boimler would be as trying to pass himself off as his mirror universe counterpart. We also figured Rutherford would just do a quick tweak to his implant and he'd perfectly fit in. Mariner, I feel would have no problem doing it and I bet Tendi would still find herself in some situation where she still gets to act like her adorable self.

Dunno what new meta post ds-9 the Terrans might find themselves in that doesn't feel well worn, not just for humans but Trek in general. Fascists, rebels.. mythic foe. Maybe in the future of mirrorverse, what remains of humanity has emigrated into a vacant pocket dimension, yet their ghost fleet phases back on rare occasion..

No thanks. Discovery already burned away any interest I had in the Mirror Universe.

Totally agreed on the MU running its course, but, I think they could get a ton of comedy mileage out of it with this show. I'd LOVE to see Boimler try to pass himself off as his evil counterpart and just failing miserably.

I was saying this from the very beginning. Then again, Emperor´s New Cloak already did mocking of the concept, if that is what are you looking for. As for reality post-DS9, I can imagine there would be group of Empire revivalists, just for the giggles. And I believe this would beg for Sliders joke coming from Ransom´s mouth.

Or having their mirror selves be the nice ones;)

This. Except Tendi. Boimler is confident and capable. The Captain is sympathetic and motherly. Their version of the security chief is a happy friendly guy. Their doctor is like an adorable housecat.
Their Mariner is super serious and by the book. Their Tendi is typical Terran. :D

Lower Decks is effectively a Berman show made in the Kurtzman Era. Mike McMahan, if he tackled the Mirror Universe, would make it feel more like DS9 or ENT's Mirror Universe. If he did it. I think he wouldn't have a Mirror Universe episode. His first love is TNG (which didn't have one). Either way, whether he'd make one or not, there's no way it would be like the Disco Version.

Mike McMahan has said several times he's more comfortable and at home with the style of '90s Trek. Bear in mind '90s Trek isn't my favorite. So it's not like I want this to happen. It's just what I think would happen if it did.

The MU Lower Decks crew would be part of a Section 31 that came from Mirror Spock’s attempts at reform
