I wonder if it would have been amore interesting prenise if the Discovery had arrived 900 years in the future and found that The Burn had had even more of an effect on the galaxy than we were shown?

That it had rendered advanced technologies such as warp drive and phasers inoperable and forced everyone to revert to a much more basic type of life and start rebuilding from virtually the ground up? Spaceflight had to be developed anew at some point in the 900 years since Discovery's departure and instead of being out of date, this 23rd century starship was suddenly the most technologically advanced object in the known galaxy?
