Great Danes really are just giant lap dogs. I don't think most of them realize how big they are, or how painful it can for a human be to have something that big try to lay on their lap. We had one for a while, and he would always lay with his head and shoulders across my mom's lap.

*experiences bad housebreaking memories *

Thank goodness we are in a place where it doesn’t snow concerning Riley’s housebreaking. She’s already months ahead of Finn, and Riley is a bit younger than Finn was when I first brought him home 16 years ago.

This was my first one Tara with her mum Beau at my uncle's house around mid 1984. Tara didn't see her mum often because we lived 150 miles away so this was a rare reunion. I'll have to dig out the pedigree certificates because they went back for generations and some had very imaginative show names.

Beau was such a gentle dog and long before this photo was taken she would come to stay with us when my uncle went on holiday and I remember a time when I would wake up every morning with her lying at the end of my bed. I don't know if it was because she liked the quilt or I was the only one who slept with my door open but it's a treasured memory.
