I cannot find any threads regarding this character so I started this thread. she tries coming off being a badass - but merely has the opposite effect. Her accent is another problem. She has no presence. the MU return is another cringe-worthy note I rather flush it down the toilet.

Why did the producers not choose the other asian actress with a more mature pedigree to her name.

 

The heck are you talking about? Michelle Yeoh is a well known actor, I'm surprised they were able to get her.

 

(I could go on a rant about doing basic research before you make proclamations like that, but I won't.)

You never know--she might have inquired about it herself. That's how TNG got Whoopi Goldberg.

 

I first saw Michelle Yeoh in action in the theater when I went to see Tomorrow Never Dies... back in 1997. That, for those who are bad at math, was 23 years ago. And she's done a shit-ton since then.

I see you have no actual knowledge of Asian Cinema; or the fact that Michelle Yeoh has been an international star for years prior to her work on Star Trek Discovery.

 

De Derminada's äksent vas great. It's nice that they let people keep their accents - the universal translator either takes them into account, or they speak like that and the translator doesn't interfere. I do need subtitles for her though sometimes.

 

I am saying the current character she plays has no presence of an empress. the dang accent is very annoying.

Michelle yeoh has like a 30 plus years career in asian and Western cinema in films like crouching tiger, hidden dragon and tomorrow never dies. Yeoh is also a highly trained martial artist and weapons expert and she could absolutely kick your nerdy arse into next month. So show some fucking respect.

I agree, get rid of accents. Everyone should sound like an American or upper class British person.
