Mass Effect Legendary Edition

I really doubt they're going to fix or modify anything related to the actual gameplay. From their own website, they say this:

For many months now, our team at BioWare has been hard at work updating the textures, shaders, models, effects, and technical features of three enormous games. Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form. It’s been amazing to see the adventures of Commander Shepard take on new life in super-sharp resolution, faster framerates, and beautiful visual enhancements.

Keywords being resolution, framerates and visual enhancements.

Yeah, this is mostly going to be about flogging the same product at full retail prince on a new system. I'd honestly be surprised if the uprezed textures will even look all that different. Hell, I'll lay odds they they don't even fix Garrus's face texture bug!
Indeed, the 'Ghostbusters: The Video Game' remaster that came out last year was damn near indistinguishable from the original. Seems like all they did was rip out the multiplayer.

Which does pose a question; will they bother trying to integrate the remastered version of ME3MP with the original, treat it like a separate game in terms of matchmaking, or just remove it entirely? As much as I enjoyed ME3 MP (and it's still active!) the latter seems the most obvious choice...except EA has a hard time turning down an opportunity to sell loot boxes.

My biggest wish for a new edition would be to let you select parameters for 2 and 3 without clear data. And to have major DLC included in the base package.
I'm pretty sure it'll have all of the DLC. I think it said in the original announcement that it would, but even if it wasn't specifically anounced, it should have them. All of the remasters like this I know included all of the DLC stuff as a standard part of the game.

Well, the Mass Effect Archives has had a world state function pretty much exactly like The Dragon Age Keep's tapestry for a while now. Odds are they'll add the ability to upload world states to the new Legendary Edition when it comes out.

Not necessarily. It could mean tweaking things under the hood (like an engine update) where most people wouldn't notice, to get them working better on new consoles, but without changing the overall integrity of the game. It could also mean things like changing the menu and inventory of the first game to better fit the rest of the series. This is not a remake. It's a remaster. Most remasters only touch on the visual aspects and almost never touch the actual gameplay, and going in and expecting major changes is only going to end up with disappointment.

...aaaaand the last of the Bioware old guard jump ship!

At least I think they're the last of the key creatives. Notable that this is the second time Hudson has left Bioware. His current tenure presented as a return to "right the ship"...then delivered Anthem to a rapturous "meh" (and Andromeda? I'm fuzzy on the timing.) I do recall however that something similar happened late during the development of Andromeda and we all know how that turned out! Also consider the timing; they literally just had the big N7 day announcement of both the next ME game and the trilogy remaster, just released a lavish 25th anniversary coffee table book for the company, Anthem's "2.0" overhaul is supposedly around the corner and DA4 is supposedly making progress...and then the main guy talking in said announcement video quits.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying all is lost and the in-progress DA4 & ME5 are doomed...but we have been here before and it hasn't turned out well thus far. Like, at all.

If it's just a reskin of old assets to fit modern graphics cards is it really worth it or a complete makeover, if it's the latter I'll jump on the bandwagon too.

The value proposition is rather subjective. After all, it's been 8 years since ME3 launched so there's a generation that were too young to play them at the time and have never owned the systems they were on. This would give them an opportunity to do so, and if the price is reasonably that's potentially a LOT of game for the money.

But yeah, for PC gamers like myself that already own them all, it's kind of a tough sell.

The remastered version of the trilogy could possibly be their last hurrah. To me it kind of sounds like when a compilation anthology is released right before a band quits, and I've actually witnessed that happening. A band I used to really like went to release a box set, and it ended up being the last thing they'd ever publish, quitting with nary a word. Not saying that's what's going to happen here, but it's kind of starting to feel like maybe with what's going on, that it could be the last thing they do to really make an impression with EA brass and shareholders. In the future, I could see EA just making Bioware an RPG label.

Not sure the analogy holds up since 1) most everyone involved from the beginning has already quit. 2) it's not a band, it's an IP owned by a large, notably greedy media corporation, and 3) they literally *just* announced they're making a new one.

Add to that the fact that the remaster so far seems to be mostly a minimum effort spit and polish to justify a current gen re-release.

Yikes, that is a bit concerning. It's not always a good sign when two of your big names leave the company while you're developing two big new products.

In vaguely related Bioware news, it turns out the bloke that voiced Cullen in Dragon Age is a complete and utter tosspot. While I'm generally happy to be ignorant of most social media dramas, it does mean I'm occasionally surprised to learn people whom I may have a vague awareness of turn out to be an ambulatory pile of human refuse.
I can't help but feel bad for the fans that were really invested in the character, but they can always recast if it comes to it.

Also there's supposed to be some footage drop of DA4 at the VGA's today. Maybe for the ME remaster too?

I won't bother creating a new thread just for this since I doubt we'll be getting any more for quite a while, so here's the teaser for the new game!

The vibe I'm getting from this is: "Andromeda? What's Andromeda? Never heard of it! Look! Liara! N7! Everyone likes us again now, right!?"

I am playing Andromeda but it is getting harder to continue because after I visit the third planet It feels repetitive. I becomes boring

Listening to the radio chatter, I think I hear "Ark Six is away, godspeed!" So Andromeda it seems is not entirely forgotten.

Other context clues (a destroyed relay and Liara climbing a dead Reaper) seem to indicate they're going with "destroy" as the canon ending. If so, makes sense as it's pretty much the only one where further storytelling is actually possible. Also; "Ark 6"? That could either mean the Keelah Si'yah if the Nexus counts as "Ark 1", or a heretofore unknown Ark if it doesn't.
Wild unsupported guess: Ark 6 is a (post Reaper War?) Council Race built Mass Relay meant to open a path between the Milky-Way and Andromeda. I suppose Shepard could be back too based on the N7 and Liara seemingly searching for them.
Wild unsupported guess the 2nd: The catalyst activated the Citadel relay and sent Shepard hurtling into Dark Space, and *that breath* wasn't taken on Earth or the Citadel, but somewhere else....like Andromeda...? How wild would it be if Shepard is not only still alive, but the one responsible for The Scourge?

The way I got through the final push was to focus on experimenting with the class/profile build. (That and achievement hunting.) For all MEA's flaws, the combat at least was solid, and I found what i thought was a fun and versatile build.
