She knew Stamets would try to attack her, and stabbed him before he could. In the previous timeline, Stamets seemed uninjured.

They did, they hadn't evolved to people doing acrobatics on drapes like Spider-Man the musical though.

Which leaves one to wonder what exactly happened originally.

In the previous timeline, she didn't know what happened to mirror Michael and thought prime Michael was her.

I don't think he ever attacked her in the original go-around, what with Michael not being present to signal him and all. But I guess he might've, and then was tortured to confess all about Lorca's Rebellion. But I don't think he'd find himself in such a vaulted position if he had once tried to kill the Emperor in front of a huge crowd of witnesses.

He didn't do anything against Georgiou in the previous timeline which is why he still had his post on the ship. He betrayed Lorca though.

Yep, although he was in Lorca's rebellion, so it is fun to speculate that he may have been ready to stab her at the Charon presentation, but either got cold feet or was waiting from a signal by Michael that never came (because Georgiou sent her out to hunt down Lorca). And only after this, did he decide to betray Lorca and join Georgiou's team.

And,as I’ve said, the MUnis a cartoon. More so than the rest of trek and not in line with the emotional seriousness Discovery seems to reach for. It’s an amusing place for an episode, but not for enormous swaths of plot, and certainly not for a regular character. I can’t suspend my disbelief for the MU just like I couldn’t for the equally ridiculous later Berman Viking Klingons.

I don't think we're seeing the real mirror universe (just Georgiou's memories), but if we are, it's a specific version created by Carl that has no bearing on the version seen in the other Discovery episodes (although, maybe it's the one that will branch off into Mirror, Mirror, with its more accepting view of non-Terran aliens).

I think the moral is going to be that even if you can’t change the universe, you can at least change yourself.

Now I want this to be an exact quote from Michelle Yeoh on set at the end of the episode while seated next to Sonequa Martin-Green on a backwards chair. Knowledge is power.

Not necessarily. Isaacs is kind of playing coy about coming back as Lorca on SNW, so it wouldn’t shock me to see them bring him back for one episode in DISCO.

Good chance the writers forget about that given their history so far.

Also I love what they’re doing with Vance’s character. An admiral that isn’t corrupt and actually competent plus likeable (so far anyway)? Well done.

Discovery tends to have reasonable Admirals. It's been a refreshing change.
