    * It recalls several other episodes in previous seasons where a character has found themselves eating alone in the Mess Hall and someone on the crew approaches in friendship.

    * Tilly as peacemaker is part of her job as Acting Number One.

    * It's also an in-joke/Easter egg. The two actors are married in real life.

A lovely scene I actually predicted two episodes ago.

Until I read your comment at the bottom I thought this picture was about the Discovery writers

I rated it a 9. We know the location of the music that started about the same time as the burn. We know that the Emperor is not just having PTSD, but actual physical problems associated with time travel and being in the wrong universe. The Emerald Chain reminds me of the Kazon gangsters on Star Trek: Voyager.

They kept the Kazons for two full seasons! (we even see them later in a couple of episodes.)

I mean that the Kazons weren't just a passing thought.

True enough. They could have been much more.

You really liked the Kazons? They look like they have a bonsai on their head!

I liked the potential that was there. They were not well executed at all but they were so built up with the promos and stuff that I can't help but think of what might have been. Culla was meaning enough.

Meh... Kazons to me were Klingon-lite. Same bumpy heads, same tribal grunting, but without the HONORRRRRR!!!! If they're background window dressing to indicate positive growth for the Federation, I'm okay with it. If they have speaking roles and some kind of B- or C-plot, I'm not. I couldn't give two rat turds in a rain barrel over what happened to any Delta Quadrant species after Voyager rambled through.

That was, unfortunately, what they became. But, the magazines I was reading leading up to Voyager's premiere left a different impression so I have a soft sport, despite poor execution. Revisiting them would be OK by me if they are expanded upon rather than just inventing more new aliens.

I think I remember what you're referring to. Sadly, the Kazon was one of the many casualties of the mixed messages that the early Voyager writing teams experienced.

i didn’t mind the makeup, it’s the characterization that I think was very badly done.

Have we seen delta quadrant aliens yet? I mean it would make sense f we found some of them in the Alpha Quadrant after all this time. How about a Talaxian?

I think there were minor delta quadrant species in one f the early episodes
