Any more obvious than the original TOS? In The TOS episode "Charlie X" Kirk steps into a turbo lift with Charlie and Kirk is wearing the standard gold ships uniform - yet when they arrive on the bridge and step out, Kirk is now wearing his green Captain wrap around top.

When you're doing multiple shots, sometimes on different days; and out of sequence, keeping track of continuity can get a little hairy.

And this isn't just a problem with Star Trek productions.

    ^^^
Replace everything you said above with Star Trek Voyager, And that's exactly how I felt about the series in 1995. They should have just realized the concept was crap and never gone ahead with it. hell they couldn't even maintain the original concept past the third episode.

You're entirely welcome to your opinion, but realize it's not shared by all Star Trek fans; and many of them (including me); are looking forward to a Star Trek series stirring Michelle Yeoh. And if they do end up placing it in the 23rd century, for me so much the better, as to me that's the best era of Star Trek. As always YMMV.

Indeed, yes. In this age of streaming and DVD it is much easier to spot the errors. It's funny to me because I love MASH but there is one shot that stands out to me in one of my favorite episodes.

It's there as part of the process.

Is it just me or does Adira look way older than a teenager? More like 26 than 16.

Ya it's a bit confusing. Especially for me as she looks and moves very similar to my ex girlfriend who was in her mid 20s at the time

Blu is 23, so I dunno why they made the character 16. Tilly syndrome strikes again I suppose.

Ian Alexander is considerably younger - only 19. Though he is much "older" in TV years, since he worked as a child actor, while Blu only started TV acting after graduating college (taking this role).

It was really awkward on the last Ready Room, because Wil clearly thought they were a teenager, and they were too polite to correct.

Trust me when you're 40+ (or more) 23 years old is still practically a teenager mentally. Hell at this point I consider anyone under 30 years old to be mentally, still a child.

I still feel like a child at times at 36. It's a weird way to think as an adult but that's what it is. Working with teens and young adults definitely reminds me that the things that happen at that age are not as important as they feel.

I though they looked like a teen, even though I know they're in their twenties. Ian looks younger than nineteen to me.

Wil said something like "the three of us are now part of a tiny club of four people who were teenage Star Trek cast members."

Ian just went on T in the year prior to filming. This means his body is in the process of masculinizing - he's literally going through a second puberty.

It will perhaps seem a bit awkward on camera in Season 4 and beyond as he continues to change physically/his voice continues to deepen - since host ghosts shouldn't have ongoing physical development. But Trek has recast in the past, we can look past this more minor change.

It's not uncommon for teenagers to be played by actors in their twenties. Hell, it's almost always the case.

Hollywood mostly doesn't like to have to pay the extra amount of money it costs to use actual teenagers, what with Child Labor Laws limiting the hours they can work and how complicated their contracts can be with Parents plus Agents involved.

So did the original Beverly hills 90210. Some of those 'kids' were close to 30.

I remember when I was a teenager, and My So Called Life came on, there was a big controversy over whether Claire Danes was too young to play a 15-year old...at the age of 15!

Honestly, the "aging up" always confused me. As a teen, I could tell they were adults. And I can still tell they are adults.

It normally works fine but Adira is the exception for me for personal reasons.

A rare reversal is Mila Kunis who was too young for That 70s Show and faked her age
