In a preview scene from next week's Discovery episode included in The Ready Room, we learn about a temporal soldier, Lt. Cmdr. Yor, who traveled forwards in time from 2379 and across universes from a universe created by the temporal incursion of a Romulan mining ship.

So we finally have a Prime timeline confirmation of the Kelvin-verse!

Looks like they had TNG uniforms too!

Someone in post production must have caught it just in the nick of time, but now we're spared from a dozen fanon explanations why this happened in the Kelvin timeline

Huh. You'd think that by 2379 of the Kelvin timeline, things would have changed so drastically that the last thing we'd see would be a TNG 1st season uniform. That just makes zero sense. But then that's par for the course, apparently.

There is zero reason to assume that unform was from.the Kelvin universe. Yor was a temporal soldier.

Yeah he jumped universes. It's a disguise.

Or maybe he beamed in "Mirror, Mirror" style, right into the costume of his counterpart:lol:

I wonder if they'll give any info about the Kelvin Universe's future? Hopefully not a throwaway line about the timeline collapsing or whatever.

Disco Doc: so what happened to that other universe?
Cronenberg: it collapsed in on itself when a starship captain used an Infinity device to go back in time and save his father
    Disco Doc: oh..

Almost fell out of my chair when I heard that "mining ship" reference right out in the open. Despite the fact that old Spock's presence canonizes the Kelvin Universe, this definitely puts an exclamation point on it. It's a little less "that OTHER Trek" now.

    Wait. One. Second.

Didn't Spock travel through time 129 years and between universes also?:wtf:

Yeah he did say only known person. I wonder if Prime spock's involvement in Kelvin timeline remained mostly unknown

From the prime perspective, Spock simply disappeared and was thought to have died in the black hole.
Maybe he died from the same disease in Beyond.

There is no reason for them to know what Spock was doing, any more than Kirk would be thought alive from the Nexus on board the ENT-B.

VOY and ENT era time cops and temporal war participants had the technology to scan time, alternate timelines etc and detect anomalies so it's very plausible they knew Spock crossed over.

Then again they didn't trust Discovery soooo:shrug:

And good thought that perhaps Spock Prime died of the same thing affecting Georgiou.

Not necessarily. He did the former, which means he "crossed universes" at the points, not at a location where the rails would run parallel but at a distance from each other. And in "Mirror, Mirror", he hopped tracks but not at the points but much farther down the line. For him, it's either-or, not both. Although we don't quite hear Kovich establish that only a close combination of the two tricks would be harmful. Perhaps "Mirror, Mirror" plus all the TOS, TAS and ST4:TVH hijinks put together had already made our Spock a marked man, and he just took his sweet time dying?

The hapless Lieutenant Commander spoken of here would be akin to Mirror Spock swapping places with Prime Spock permanently in "Mirror, Mirror", and in his later life additionally engaging in the 2009 movie hijinks and thus traveling in time in a significant fashion he never has the opportunity to reverse. Although we never hear Kovich say that reversing one's time trip would protect from the grim fate, either. Perhaps our putative Mirror Spock would have been doomed by the back-and-forth time travel in the assorted TAS episodes and ST4:TVH already?

I think King Daniel was pointing out that Spock went back in time during his initial cross over into the Kelvin timeline. Interestingly, Nero only time traveled, since he was the splitting incident.

Spock also traveled less time back (almost 90% less) thus the forces on his atoms are less (thus longer without symptoms).

It seemed clear to me that your atoms can handle the stress of being pulled one direction, but being pulled in 90 degree opposing forces (backwards and across) is eventually fatal.

This was implied, and will likely be confirmed next week.

The way I'm interpreting it is the relative spacetime distance between the two points of travel impact the severity of the issues. If you go a matter of +/- a century or two in your own universe, the effects are negligible, but if you go a longer span, then you have issues. If you go a relatively short distance in time, but cross universes, it becomes more severe. Spock went 130 years and a universe away, so he lasted a few years in the KT before dying. Georgiou has gone nearly a millennia and a universe away (and it's also been established that the relative distance between the Prime universe and the Mirror universe has separated since the 23rd century, too), so her breakdown is magnitudes quicker.

All this could be what the "preparation" done by the Atavachron in All Our Yesterdays did to those who went through the portal when they left Sarpeidon's present timeframe - preventing any degradation due to the travel.

I also thought that's an interesting connection, but they didn't all go very far and didn't switch universes. Maybe Spock was more affected cause he went to the ice age, while Kirk seemed fine cause he only went to the musketeer era...?

Exactly - Kirk went back probably five or six centuries, whereas Spock went back some millennia*.

    * - Assuming Sarpeidon's recent history and development was on a scale similar to that of Earth. Of course, I could be completely wrong and my theory totally useless.
