What a mess. Can't these creatively bankrupted producers just make a compromise and just merge the universes together than continuing this separatist non-sense of Kelvin and Prime???

Merging would be "creatively bankrupt", copying DC's "Crisis on Infinite Earths".

If a position or statement can be critiqued, it ought to be possible to do so effectively without making it personal. So why not do that?

Ah, but it's only logical to ruthlessly attack the credibility of the opponent. Just ask 'em Vulcans!

(Attacking the opponent's position categorically through ridicule seems harmless enough, without actually being personal. But it's pretty difficult to credibly apply "ridicule" as a concept when discussing parallel universes and time wars!)
