Yeah. Now that DSC takes place in the 32nd Century, I'd like if they keep a three-way division: "Neo-TOS Trek" (SNW), "Neo-TNG Trek" (LD, PIC), and "Disco Trek" (DSC). Anything that spins off from DSC (not including SNW) is something that I hope they keep in the "Disco Trek" Lane.

Again, the show does so much better when it focuses on character than it does story. The Hugh/Phillipa and Hugh/Paul/Adira scenes were definitely the best of the episode. Good to see Detmer get her groove back but I feel like her storyline was cut a little short.

And yeah, definitely feeling that there's Disco in that nebula!

I wonder if someday we'll have a show named "Janeway"...

It would be one thing to say that Detmer wants to have controls that are more familiar to her, that match watch she accustomed to (although what she chose was barely better than Riker's joystick). However, disabling computer control--a fly-by-wire system--would be a big problem. Book's ship is very asymmetrical. Detmer has neither the experience nor knowledge of the ship. It would be better for Detmer to configure the interface to be more like Discovery, but have the computer interpret the actions in a way that would make sense for piloting Book's ship.

Yeah, it seems a little ridiculous to have that be the only reason for wanting Ryn.

I guess one reason could be that if they want to keep more people under their heel, they want to keep up a pretense that they're unstoppable. Running out of dilithium would dispel that.

I know characters are not the actors and we have to separate the art from the artist, but I just couldn't see Janeway the same after hearing about the way Kate Mulgrew reportedly treated Jeri Ryan on Voyager (even though I've heard they have made peace since then). I'm not really interested in seeing more Janeway.
Book spent quite a bit of time on Discovery, and he could have let Detmer play around with his ship. It's more concerning that Vance has never brought up or had a stern discussion with Burnham and Saru that this is the 2nd time Book's personal relationship with Burnham has interfered with Starfleet business.

Nickelodeon is doing a Trek show called Star Trek: Prodigy with captain Janeway in it.
Seems like she will have a big role in there.

Its water under the bridge, so my advice would be to let it go.
I'd be up for seeing more of Janeway... but I'd think she would come back as an Admiral, not a Captain in the upcoming animated Trek show 'Prodigy'.

Well, maybe they're really at the bottom of the barrel, a few trips around the block and it's over...

I agree if I were going around saying nasty things to Mulgrew or denouncing her at conventions or something, but I'm not. It's my opinion on what I watch and why I want to or don't want to watch something.

Well, that's show business. I know that Shelley Long (Dianne) treated Kelsey Grammer (Frasier) like dirt in "Cheers", in fact, she wanted him out of the show. The irony is that he lasted much longer than she did. But they patched things up in the end and he even had her as a guest star on his show a couple of times.

    I didn't know this. But then I'm not a Cheers/Frasier fan.

Obviously no one is perfect. And if we based our film/tv viewing on actors/directors/writers/etc being saints, we probably wouldn't be able to watch anything at all, to put it mildly. But I guess what I read about Jeri/Kate really struck a nerve with me for some reason.

Well, I've watched a long list of interviews of Jeri Ryan about Voyager, she never said anything that made me think that she was treated unfairly on the show. Plus they needed her. No the only one who's complaining all the time is Brannon Braga... It's like everything bad that happened to him is someone else's fault... and he's never shy about saying that.

I wasn't trying to tell you how to feel or act.
I merely offered a suggestion and a potentially different perspective.. that's all.

The point I tried to make was that if Mulgrew and Ryan were able to work things out, there's no reason to think that people like us couldn't get over it.
After all, the 'spat' did happen between the two of them... it didn't personally impact any of us (in fact, I wasn't even aware that there were issues between them up until maybe a few years ago... and I also learned at the same time they both got over it).

So...can Frakes just go ahead and direct every episode? I feel like I end up not noticing the direction (in a good way) with his episodes, something I can't say for some of the lesser known directors this season.

Not sure if this was an intentional reference to Into Darkness but when Ryn mentioned a target near the Viridian's "aft nacelle" I had flashbacks to Cumberbatch's similar and terrible line.
