SciFiEric's 2nd Pilot USS Enterprise

The video has ended up with a framerate of 30 fps, which means that every fifth frame is a duplicate of the previous frame.

I hope you don't mind, but I've converted it to 24fps here, removing the duplicates:

It's still very slightly juddery, because there's no motion blur, giving it a stop-motion look.

Here, I've post-processed some motion blur, and also added a little gate weave to match the original footage that follows your shot. Because it's all post on the original video, it's added some artifacts, such as "twinkling" stars.

If you want me to delete these, just say, and I'll be happy to oblige.
Interesting. My original was 30 FPS. The second one I posted was 23.98 FPS which should have exactly matched the original. I wonder if YouTube somehow changed the frame rate? It was fun to look at your manipulation of my work.

I've got another render going on now. We'll see how it does.

Thanks for helping!

I've discovered another couple of slight differences. I think that either my selected camera is wrong, or I've chosen the wrong lens settings. Plus, the blinking lights on the underside of my saucer are slightly too large.

I've started comparing my renders to images of the original model as it was filmed in front of a blue screen. So, maybe I can tweak my model and my renderings a little closer to the original.

This first image is from The Roddenberry Vault.

Aha! Now I see what the problem is. I couldn’t put my finger on it until you made that comment.

When the miniature was filmed in 1965 for WNMHGB, it was the middle light of each of those tripled round lights that were blinking (the three lights at the 4 o’clock and 8 o’clock positions on the lower saucer). All three lights were the same size, but the middle lights were the ones that were blinking, so that’s why they look bigger when they’re lit.

On your model however, it looks like there’s just one large light instead of three at those same positions, and the light has a squashed dome shape. On the studio miniature, those three circular lights are mostly recessed, but the middle light has a very slight protrusion from the surface.

Thank you, my friend. I'll look it over this weekend!

That can be scary wondering how much of your memory has been affected. It does appear that your rendering abilities are still with you! :techman:
You are wonderful! Thank you for that!
I agree with @blssdwlf, your rendering skills are still the same aka awesome! :mallory:
Thank you! You are good for a rendering guy's ego! LOL! Thank you again!
Masterful. But your health comes first. Speedy recovery Sir!
Thank you, Atolm. I really, REALLY appreciate that thought.

Yikes, Eric. Hope you feel better.

No doubts about your memory. Prepare for warp speed.
Oh, my memory of Star Trek and you fine people is strong! ;)
I appreciate the good wish. I have been working on it. I'm better than I was two months ago, that's for certain. Thank you.
Peace and love, fellow Trekker. Yours is one of my few "watched" threads on this board.
Wow! Thank you very much!
Mine too. Health first, though! We will still be here when you're ready to come back.
I am very glad. I want each of you to stay as healthy as you can. That's the most important part, I think. Thank you!
