Regarding Calypso, maybe its the same ship and Zora just uses the programmable matter throughout the ship to return it to its 23 century look and feel? For her its like throwing on some comfy jammies and kicking back while she waits...

I still prefer to think of Calypso as a "Parallel Universe" or alternate Quantum Universe where some of the events of Discovery went a different route and Zora ended up there in the storm.

Discovery in Calypso looks different because they hadn't designed the refit yet and we don't know if it even ties into anything. It's a wonderful story about a two sentient beings who helped each other and fell in love. One happened to be human and the other happened to be an AI on a starship. It doesn't matter how it fits into canon.

I do think that the shorts don't have to adhere to anything as much, since they're supposed to be experimental. Ephraim is one of my favorite episodes, and it doesn't matter that things are off there compared to TOS. The whole SHO show could be an exploration of parallel universes, some of which are animated XD

Are we to believe the Enterprise-A in STV and VI has so many corridors and rooms that look exactly unchanged from the TNG Enterprise a century later? Why does the Discovery exterior in "Calypso" need to be taken any more literally?

Either that or the ship took a 1,000 year sojourn nobody talks about between episodes 5 and 6:lol:

That's why it needed refitting! It was a thousand years older by that point.

I agree. I see them as side media like books and comics and people are free to work them into personal head canon as real or alternate or just nothing if they like

The main character never revealed his name, or even whether he had one; his culture seemed to have other Ways.

But he sure wasn't played by David Ajala!
