Nilsson.I don't know. They both have important duties, already. Maybe a woman but who? Tilly? After all, she was a captain in the alternate universe, so why not here be number one?

I might be mistaken but I thought that Book's ship was travelling FTL in the first episode of the season.
I really think it should be Nilsson or Owo or even Detmer as second in command, all who have far more experience than Tilly who's still relatively fresh from the Academy.Yeah, I think it will be Tilly.
Yeah, I think it will be Tilly.
Doesn't Tilly need to be at least promoted to lieutenant first?
Harry Kim is rolling over in his grave on Earth.Yeah but Saru or Vance could give her a promotion. Why not?
I'm pretty sure she'll leave. Maybe she'll join the emperor and move over to the 31 show!SMG has made some comments offscreen about how Michael is not entirely sure that Starfleet is right for her any longer. I wonder if we're working towards her exiting the main character by the end of the season?
That was the Yorktown (which was also the original name of the TOS ship)This also reinforces the idea that the Enterprise-A wasn't a brand-new ship in the TOS Movies. Which is most likely why it was really decommissioned after only seven years. And why it was "ready" so soon after the original was destroyed.
I really hope he appears again, maybe at the endA total aside, but I wonder if anyone has asked Starfleet to contact that lonely dude on the broken station waiting for his entire life for a signal.
Nilsson, Rhys, Owo--any of these would make fine first officers. It's the show's fault for not focusing on them, not the characters' fault.Didn’t the con default to Rhys recently? Seems like the barely there bridge characters would be in line before Tilly. Aside from the fact she’s an ensign, she really seems to be struggling with her new life in the future. Don’t think she needs the stress of command on top of that.
Grudge is a changeling! (pure speculation)If there is more to the cat, I vote for first officer Grudge!
Nilsson.
I mean, we are debating the merits of fictional people.... But from what the show has given us, she has next to zero command experience whatsoever (that I can recall, anyhow). I've never seen her issue an order to anyone, ever. She appears to mostly be Stamet's assistant that shows up on the bridge often for some reason. She's just the engineering officer that serves on the Bridge?Yeah but Saru or Vance could give her a promotion. Why not?
Vance could (and probably should) recommend to transfer one of his own people to fill Discovery's sudden first officer vacancy.Someone from the 32nd century.
Promotion advantages for Trills didn't work that way even in DS9.Since Adira now has centuries of experience, including an Admiral's, they should be first officer
