The 1940's intercom unit just blows my mind! Imagine if they had used those for the wall mounted com panels instead. I've had no success with rendering so I'll have to admire your work instead blssdwlf . Beautiful work!
Thanks! Yeah, that would've been a sight You've got some great Sketchup modeling skills (La Sirena comes to mind). I looked briefly at Sketchup years ago so I don't know how the rendering works in it. Have you tried exporting the model over to Blender to render?
I'm posting up some reference geometry for "The Cage" Boat-style Conference table as I had no luck finding info on it on the internet. The table is just shy of 10' long but in this case I rounded up to 10'. The cutout position lines up pretty close to where it is shown in both The Cage and WNMHGB that I'm confident of where it is. Also posting up reference geometry for the The Cage (and WNHMGB) Conference Room in the 3 door configuration. In my version, the room is approx 35' 4" wide in diameter as measured from the outer edges of the walls. As a disclaimer, it's not 100% accurate but matches pretty well to screenshots. Enjoy!
That's a possibility. I think the actual set wall maybe around 11' but I extended it to 12' to cover any gaps. The lowered ceiling ring was great as long as the camera shot over/through the center area. To me, this is the only confirmed round room with the high ceiling and I think it would work well on a tall deck. The room we look into in "The Cage" when Pike walks to his quarters may or may not be a circular room like this one (and had a different door configuration and we couldn't see the interior walls.)
Now you're just being masterfully "cheeky"! What an insanely clever way to explain the difference in size o the parabolic dish between shots! I also love the way it "contracts"!

@Redfern - Thanks! The petals all fit back there behind the dish and still keeps roughly the same silhouette when viewed from the side. I think I went through a ton of variations before landing on this one. Rigging is still WIP. This is like my 4th go at rigging (more of just learning how to do it and what works and doesn't work with Octane.) @Mytran - Good memory! Yes, I've had these ideas for a while and now going through and learning how to rig it on my model. I'll post up my current nacelle change animation soon as I've simplified it a bit. Basically I want to be able to have my Enterprise be able to appear as what was seen on-screen for Seasons 1-3.
This is an early animation test. I still have to add in hatches at the intercooler area and end cap exhaust pattern and tweak the animation paths. I tried an animation envelope for the end cap exhausts but I either did it incorrectly or Octane doesn't see the change happening
LOL Yeah. Just the ten circular ones that don't fold in and the large D-shaped ones on the top and bottom need to close up. The ones that are part of the large panel that rotates up don't need to be plugged
Any sort of in-universe explanation for why such a manoeuvre might be necessary or is that "classified" Starfleet information?
LOL. Right now I'm imagining that the circular exhausts in the rotated panel are aimed down into the sphere unit and is powering the sphere when extended out. The D-shaped openings could be intakes or exhausts. The plates that slide out on the intercooler pipes in the rear function as some kind of flow sensor...
