Stargazer

Admiral Jean-Luc Picard

Commodore
Commodore
Given how CBS is branching out, I want to see a show about the Stargazer. We can see Picard's ascent from bridge officer to Captain. Memory Alpha says Picard commanded the ship for 22 years and that Jack Crusher was a member of the crew.

Would you want to see a show about young Picard on the Stargazer? Would you want to see the early, mid, or final years?

I think we'll see a Stargazer series after Picard ends. I also think it should start with him taking command but have him not be the same Captain he was in TNG. I'd make him half-way between his younger self in "Tapestry" and what he was like in TNG's first season. He'd take charge, he'd be bit of a hard-ass, super-French and super proud of it, but also dedicated to his career to a fault.

What I find more likely to happen is we could get a flashback subplot running through a season of Picard chronicling his days on the Stargazer with Jack Crusher, the doctor he visited in season 1 and, I don't know, Vigo. And if fan response to that is positive, they'll go and do a spin-off about it. Kind of a similar situation of having Pike and the Enterprise on Disco and then getting SNW in response to the positive fan approval.

I don't see a long-term series happening (at least not for a bit) because it would sort of be covering ground similar to Strange New Worlds, but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing a miniseries.

I don't think a Stargazer series would come out anytime soon. I'm thinking way in the future. Not only after Picard is done, but also after Strange New Worlds is done.

They keep saying they haven't rebooted Star Trek, so going to a Kirk Series after Strange New Worlds would harshly contradict what they've told us because it would basically have to be a reboot (or else become the most hamstrung, mismatched series ever made). They won't do that. It goes directly against their company line and they don't need to do that if they have other options. Before someone chimes in to respond to this, please read the rest of my post and hear me out.

When Picard ends, people will still be wanting to see more of Picard even if Patrick Stewart presumably won't be able to play the role anymore by that point. And if you can't go forward anymore, you go back. Not including the horror flashbacks going on in Picard's mind in "The Battle" (TNG), we've never seen Picard's time on the Stargazer.

So you have a character there's more demand for, a ship already lined up, with a time-frame that's never been shown before, and a Quadrant that's not quite TOS but not quite TNG and the perfect middle-ground. The series is begging to be made. Eventually.

If Strange New Worlds leads into the original show, there's a way to do it. Kirk commanded the Enterprise for what, five years? We only saw 78 adventures, counting "The Menagerie" as one "adventure." We could have a Kirk show that presents missions and adventures that happened between episodes of the original show.

Alternatively, present it as "Season 4" made for the modern audience. This could work, bridging the original show to the first movie.

I doubt we’ll see a Stargazer series. There’s a greater chance that we’ll see a series with Riker aboard a new ship, probably the Enterprise-F (not that I’d really want to see that, just that that has a greater chance of happening.)

Picard commanding the Stargazer would have hair. Picard's like the opposite of Samson...he loses his mojo if you put hair on his head.
