I'm glad so many people are apparently easily gushed and entertained but there's just a lot lacking in the show I need more than pretty pictures and characters who can pretty much do anything they want and characters who're just the butt of all of the jokes.

<SNIP>

Feh, I dunno. Not a show that blew me away, but I guess I liked it and was more entertained by it than I was Picard. So... Points?

It's not intended as a bash. I just don't "get" how it seems like people so quickly and easily give these episodes 9s and 10s and rave and praise this thing as if it's just the best thing ever.

I have a suggestion. I do not mean this rudely or as sarcasm. I say this earnestly and out of a genuine desire to help you achieve a happier state of being:

You do not actually enjoy Star Trek: Lower Decks and would be a happier person if you did not watch the show and did not seek out Internet forums dedicated to discussing this show you do not enjoy.

Best episode of the season.

The guest stars were a nice surprise.

Definitely didn’t expect death of a regular character in a comedy show.

Rutherford’s British mode was funny.

I have been hoping all the characters will eventually speak with normal tones. But they even had Frakes do the loud and fast talk, so it didn’t sound like Riker.

I have been to Solvang, California’s Danish city. Very nice, I like.

And I'm sorry, was I supposed to "care" that the Bajoran security officer died? I mean what meaningful contribution did he have to the show? That time he wanted to open fire on and a ship they were met up with? Or that time he wanted to open fire on a ship they were met up with? How about that time he wanted to fire on a ship they met up with?

What more to him was there than that?

He was the most funny character of the show ... as opposed to the lower decks ensigns, who are annoying the hell out of me.

That was truly excellent. I'd been watching the episodes days later, not that interested, I disliked the penultimate episode, and then this. A true coming out party for LDS.

I enjoyed the Hell out of it. It's the first time I didn't want to strangle Mariner.

The Riker/Titan stuff was fantastic. I guess his coming for the rescue is becoming an in-joke now.

9/10!

Great episode. I haven't been strongly critical of this show but I have said a few times that it's just not working for me. This episode though struck a perfect balance between the comedy, plot, seriousness with nice ties to canon that don't feel like throw away one liners or scenes. If season 2 is like this then count me in on the hype train.

The moment Riker showed up on the Titan I thought this is what Picard was lacking, some real fun and a genuine nod to fans. I have to say, it was a glorious moment and worth the wait.

I think the Titan's designer is a bit happy ;)

The Titan designer was a member of Trek BBS at the time of the competition.

I like all the TNG references there. I'm surprised they actually killed a character in an animated series, especially since it all happened so fast.

They should be hung for the These Are The Voyages reference.

So I guess Kim will be reporting to Boimler now?

On the Ready Room for this episode, McMahan indicated that Boimler will be on the Titan at the start of season 2, and Riker will be seen. And that we will continue to follow the Cerritos at the same time. Oh, and that the Cerritos will get a new chief of security.
I meant stay, as in: whole season

I thought it was amazing. I loved that this little comedy cartoon show delivered the first All-Access finale I found genuinely exciting. This ep underscored just how silly and unnecessary the "threats to all of everything" are, particularly when we know they can't and won't happen. There were real consequences here, and I cared about what was happening on screen way more than, say, a tentacle monster from the great beyond. I hope the live-action shows take some notes.

I'd love to see Mike McMahan try his hand running a live-action Trek show.

After sleeping on it, here are a couple other things I enjoyed from the episode:
  • The clear ST'09 homage shots, including the far shot of the Pakled ship and destroyed Solvang debris floating near the star
  • Also ST'09 shot of Cerritos warping into the Solvang debris field and encountering Nero's... er... the Pakled ship
  • TOS -- those old scientists
  • Riker coming back from the holodeck after watching TATV again
  • Another subtle inside Trek joke that I'm not remembering at the moment

Well, we also learned about Caitian Biology.. "Coital Hooks"... huh.. Okay.. :rommie:

Still wondering "For Personal Use" a Tribble would be used for..
