Hope Hicks, Donald & Melania Trump Contract COVID

But, you don't care about any of this, do you? Clearly I am a Trumplet, not because the evidence bears it out, but because I don't agree with you. You WANT me to be a Trumplet, ergo I am one.

Reality check: your feelings do not determine the truth. And there's nothing you can say, nothing you can do, to make me believe otherwise.

Nice speech, but you're not offering anything substantive to support your case. Again. Other posters have brought facts and cogent arguments to bear, not just feelings. You're establishing a real pattern: claim big, refuse to support your case, then deflect or refuse to continue.

Keep telling yourself that, canon warrior. Ostriches don't stick their head in the sand, but people definitely do.

You definitely seem to be one that has their head buried in the sand. Continuing to blame everyone but the person who is ultimately in charge of the Federal governments response to COVID-19.

Conservatives like to talk a big game, but are the biggest snowflakes out there. Melting at the first hint of facts.

The US (214,611), Brazil (146,375) and India (102,714) are the leaders in COVID-19 deaths. They are also the only nations with over 100,000 registered deaths. India has 1.3 billion people compared to the US' 350 million. India has four times the people but less than half the number of deaths, compared to the US. Brazil has 210 million people, the only reason they're in the game is because their leader is an even bigger idiot than Trump and the country has less medical resources.

Edit: Didn't you say you were done with this conversation? I guess you just couldn't help yourself.

Hmmm. When I leave a topic because I've spoken my piece, you give me crap about it. When I return to a topic because it's evolved in a new direction... same thing. Clever, but too obvious to be effective.

Let's try to remember two other things...

1. Most Covid deaths are not just just caused by Covid. A typical Covid death is something like "Grandma was going to die at 87 of congestive heart failure, but instead she died at 86 of Covid." It's sad, but death does come for us all.

2. The quarantine has caused spikes in obesity, depression, loneliness, mental illness, domestic violence, and almost certainly suicide. It's also compromised our children's education, and the kids weren't even in danger. And, it's smashed the strongest economy we fielded in years. Are you sure it's a good idea to extend it further?

How come no other nations really have this problem? Are Americans that weak that they can't handle a little bit of quarantine? Quarantine sucks, no doubt about it. But I'd rather that than potentially drown in my own juices or watch it happen to one of my family members. Or one of my neighbors, or really anyone.

Dollars lost due to an economic downturn can be recovered, lives lost (214,000+ at last count) cannot.

This is some callous "It is what it is" shit.

You have shown no interest in engaging in honest debate and instead have posted false and disruptive drive-by troll posts to push people's buttons.

Since you've claimed you were leaving the discussion multiple times, I'm taking it out of your hands. You are reply banned from this thread.

Comments to PM.

Nobody take any digs at him, since he can't respond. Thanks.

Yikes... Claiming that Trump has done as good a job as anyone else!??@!?

He's flubbed it at every turn and twice on Sundays! He keeps trying to take mulligans just like he does in Golf. Incompetent doesn't begin to cover the screw-ups and blatant stupidity exhibited by König Drumpf I...

Sorry, off my soapbox for now.

After conversing with Oddish, I am allowing him to return to posting in the thread on a provisional basis. Thank you.

So let me get this straight, the people who suffer some challenges and are actually struggling with the lockdowns whether its losing their job of experiencing depression - you think they're weak? I can't believe so many just want to prove the other guy wrong that 5 people like this comment.

Everyone struggles with quarantine, like I said in the post you quoted. Sometimes you have to have eyes beyond what you are personally experiencing. Job loss sucks, but imagine how much less it would impact people if we had a stronger social safety net. Instead, we allow very few to hoard the vast majority of the wealth and call anyone who questions this way of thinking a communist.

Just like the Spanish Flu, we will recover, we will regain the wealth lost, but the people are never coming back.

I'm not personally experiencing any issue with the lockdown even if it went for another year, but other people aren't as lucky they have mental issues, struggle with the changes and they aren't weak just because they have more problems with the lockdown than me.

I'm talking about Americans in general and I think you damn well know it. Also nice how you bring up people's loss of jobs and then totally ignore the point about the social safety net, moving on to those with mental issues.

I've always thought that death was worse than losing a job.

Catching a disease that gives you chronic health issues the rest of your life, and possibly debilitation and expensive care to boot, if not worse than losing your job in every case, is getting close to it. Undermining the protection that people have against having their medical insurance premiums raised because of preexisting conditions is a shitty thing to do anyway, but it's even worse now during the pandemic. Not to mention comparing losing your job to giving this disease to a family member.

It's not like the US can't afford to be better, or to be best even. Cutting everybody loose to let them deal with this on an individual level is the opposite of that. Coming together to protect each other is what a nation should do.

That's not what he meant, and you know it.

And don't try and shame people for liking a post you disagree with.

While I admit I was out of line in some general statements I made, I think that it is permissible to mention that the number of people affected by the quarantine runs in the millions. And while the following is from early in the lockdown, it shows that those of us who advocate reopening don't necessarily do it out of disregard for public safety or lives lost.
