Why USS Cerritos of all names?

Not that I'm aware of, as I quickly moved away from such people. The person who insisted Jodie Whittaker be addressed by the surname of her husband did so exclusively to undermine talks about her, trying to say he was "raised properly" to address married women by their "real names".
Wow. That would a pretty long list of entertainers if applied rigorously.

Love it when misogynists appropriate the rhetoric of etiquette to justify their marginalization of women.

Speaking of the ship names, so far every newly named ship has been named for a city in America (I mean the super continent). Obvs makes sense for the California-class theme.

Perhaps they throw in a non-Human name sometime.

The Captain has what appears to be a tattered CA state flag in her ready room.

I assume that this flag was damaged in World War Three or the Eugenics Wars that (according to Enterprise) followed shortly after (Col. Green's plan to "cleanse" the world of the "defectives" - mutations and people with damaged DNA from the war's nuclear, biological, and biochemical weapons.)

I imagine the flag flying over some fort or outpost that held on through the war, despite the onslaught from the Eastern Coalition, the base held and the flag flew. The flag of the Republic of California (of the former United States), Western Defense Pact (or something like that.)
