It's probably worth keeping in mind that these Marvel/Disney+ "shows" aren't really shows so much as a bunch of mini-series. I doubt many of them will get a second instalment. So while it may seem like a lot, it's really just a long form version of what they used to do with the one-shots.

No, we will judge them by being announced.
Hahahaha, that's funny. Oh wait, you were serious, weren't you.
I have been just in the last two days been reading a lot of online chatter about Marvel courting Keanu Reeves for the part of Mark Spector. Not the first time this has been brought up, but it's come up a lot very recently.
My first instinct is to think there's no way Keanu Reeves would do a series like this, but we've seen some big names in both streaming and TV series lately, so it could be possible. Especially since these are connecting to the movies, and could potentially lead to appearances in the movies too.

Why wouldn't be willing to do what's essentially a big budget mini-series on a Streaming Service? I mean, HBO got top talent like Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep for "Big Little Lies" and Westworld got Anthony Hopkins.

Reeves was already considered for MCU roles before anyways.

Until the last few years you never saw a lot of big name movie stars doing TV. For a long time it seemed like TV was where actors started their careers before they moved on to movies and then where they went when they were coming to an end. For a long time was pretty rare to see movies stars at the height of their popularity on TV.

I don't really consider the MCU show to be traditional television. This is prestige television and it's at an entirely different level.

They are more than that though. They are long form versions of the movies--probably a lot less spectacle but with fuller character development--that are meant to support the movies that are in development while providing a prestige format television experience. I am looking at them to be on par with or better than the movies in terms of quality of story/plot/character.

The line between TV acting and movie acting has been eroding for going on a decade now. Partly because the budget and prestige of certain TV projects has risen to the point that it's on par with mid-budgeted productions. Partly because said mid-budget productions have been in steady decline for the last 20 years as the box office is increasingly dominated by only big budgeted spectacle movies, kid's movies and low budget date movies (horrors & rom-coms.)

The mid-range was always where the actual acting mostly took place anyway, and actors go where the work is.

A long form episodic format with high production values. You literally just described a mini-series.

Maybe a generational thing--but other than Roots, mini-series for me brings to mind cheesy low quality tv.

Disney seems to be making limited series that are on par with cinematic quality.

Are future X-Men and Fantastic Four movies going to be released under the Marvel Studios or 20th Century Studios banner? I know they're going to be part of the MCU, but I wasn't sure which studio they'd be under since they came with the whole Fox bundle, rather than being something they bought individually. I had been assuming that anything that was with Fox before the sale, like Alien, Predator, and Planet of the Apes would be released under 20th Century Studios but the Marvel stuff is different since it'll be incorporated into the MCU.

And there's no such thing as cheesy, low quality theatrical movies? Do hack authors not write novels?
Subjective quality isn't inherently a factor when discussing format, and a mini-series is just that; a format.

Sorry--didn't realize it was such a sensitive topic--not looking for a debate on what to call these shows as long as they are good.

Have we heard any kind of news about Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight other than that they are happening?

Based on how they've destroyed She-Hulk, even worse then the comics have, I have no faith in those shows being any good. I don't even like Ms. Marvel in the comics, and I'm neutral toward Moon Knight, so I don't really care about them either way. Moon Knight could surprise me, and Ms. marvel is incapable of being a show I'd like regardless of its actual quality, but either way I'm not particularly invested in either of them. Since they aren't starring pre-established MCU film characters, I assume that they'll be as shitty as "She-Hulk", even though it won't really bother me either way.

Did I miss an announcement about She-Hulk that was an in depth description of the show? I know there was a casting announcement, was there something more?

Nope. Nothing else. Just the usual suspects going on about nothing. My guess is that K5 had someone specific that he really wanted for the role and anybody else would be "worst casting ever".
