The sphere data from season 2

Here's an idea I had. The Sphere was biological and mechanical in nature and sentient, the data in the sphere was its mind.

So here's my thinking, what they downloaded into Discovery was its mind saved as a kind of backup, that's why it built defenses to stop them erasing it. The sphere data evolves into Zora which we see in Calypso. It evolved when it combined itself with Airiam's memories which were also in the computer.

It's very protective of itself and the ship, has had 1000 years to evolve, and I think given the chance it could take on Control and win.

Also was this a mistake?

At the end of the episode "New Eden" when Pike is watching the footage taken from the soldiers helmet the end of the video says "end transmission UFP" with the UFP logo but the UFP didn't exist in the time the video would have been recorded.

I don't think the "End Transmission UFP" came from the original recording. I think that was the Discovery computer itself letting Pike know that was the end of the transmission.

OK then Disco's computer must like to be creative that end bit looked like it blended into the video.

Yeah, it's a common theory that the Sphere data merges with Disco's computer and becomes Zora. Although, the script of the season 2 finale actually included a line establishing Zora evolved from Control, somehow.

Oooh I didn't know that. Is there an actual line somewhere in the finale?

Wouldn't sending Control into the future just make it more powerful now that it has 32nd century tech at its disposal? And since no one told the truth about Control and Discovery back in the 23rd century, that coverup would end up hurting the galaxy because the galaxy spent a millennium in ignorance of the coming threat instead of what could have been a thousand years adequately preparing for it.
