Dune 2018 (19,20,21...)

IMO He doesn't need to be so fat he can't possibly move around without suspensors, just big enough that they would make it easier for him to get around. It's a statement of both gluttony AND decadence.
Herbert said of the Baron:

He might weigh two hundred Standard kilos in actuality, but his feet would carry no more than fifty of them.

So, Herbert absolutely said he could not move without suspensors.

Again (reminds self) this is an adaptation, not a copy.

200 kgs is like 450 lbs. The toy looks about right for that. It's not an inhuman size. His feet would not carry more than 50 means the suspensors took on 150 kg of weight, not that he would be physically incapale of moving without them. It's the future equivalent of a walker.

And a little help from the Bene Gesserit, if you read one of the house books but I think that also took the lead from a line or two in Dune about the baron.

150 kg of weight
[Pedantic physicist mode]
The kilogram is the SI unit of mass not of weight, which is a measurement of force on a mass subject to acceleration. The SI unit of force is the newton.

ETA: I wasn't averse to all of Pinky and the Brian's ideas -- Baron deliberately infected, fine - space circus, no.

Aside from the Ornithopters, what else could there be? Guild Heighliners, I guess, but they're likely to be a very minor part of the movie.

Commercial airing during NFL games. No new footage. For those who still think it's coming out in Dec, note that the marketing still mentions no release date.

I guess they'll wait until the last possible minute to see if they will keep the December release date, the movie should be basically done ( though some movies were done so late they basically shipped wet prints to the movies). I guess we'll find out somewhere late October if it will release in its original release date (i have my doubts).

Nevermind Spaceships - i want a cool Sandworm figure or Mini Diorama

just need a sandworm, harvester and carryall then you too can stage your own worm attack or substitute a 'thopter for a dramatic rescue (Atreides figures sold seperately) :)

I'll wait for a Duncan Idaho figure, so I can finally sing my parody song "I'm Making My Own Duncan Idaho".
