Kenneth Mitchell (Kol, Kol-Sha, and Tenavik) Will Play a Human Character in Season 3

Since Kenneth Mitchell's stints in seasons 1 and 2, he revealed the unfortunate news earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with ALS back in 2018 and has been confined to a wheelchair.
The popular character actor revealed earlier this year that he was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in 2018, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, a condition that severely limits his ability to walk. Despite his medical issue — and his now-required use of a wheelchair — Mitchell made a Star Trek appearance earlier this spring on the official Star Trek Cruise in March, just days after his diagnosis became public.

He is known to Discovery fans as playing the Klingon characters of Kol, Kol-Sha, and the time-monk Tenavik. But he will return to Star Trek and DSC in season 3 in a guest role playing a human character.
“It’s beautiful, and I’m excited for the fans to meet him [his character]. I am also thankful for the continued support of Alex (Kurtzman), Michelle Paradise, Olatunde (Osunanmi), Jonathan Frakes and everyone at Secret Hideout, who made it happen for me.”

Seems like there are going to be a lot of characters for 13 episodes. I hope it doesn’t end up feeling like a muddled mess.

He did specify guest character. He's only in two episodes, so I'm guessing it's a one-off role guest role for a specific storyline. I have to think that due to his health concerns he may not be taking on a full workload.

That makes four characters that Kenneth Marshall has played. If you count all the Weyouns as one character, how many characters did Jeffrey Combs play? 5? Of course, I don't think anyone tops the number of characters played by Vaughn Armstrong.

I am glad they are bringing him back. I really thought he did a great job as Tenavik, especially.
It's also a nice story that they are bringing him back. I bet it is mentally therapeutic for him to be able to remain professionally active through his health issues. As you mentioned, he has done a great job on DIS in the past, and it's a good thing that he can return to give us hopefully another interesting and well-acted character.
