Just a random thought about Ensign Tendi: is her hyperactive, need for attention a side effect of some kind of Orion woman pheromone suppressant drug? It seems like she's always hyperactive like an ADHD child, and this last episode wanting the guy to like her seems a bit odd to me. Orion women give off pheromones that give them attention, so if that was suppressed would that make Orion women's hormones go out of whack?

I don't know if I would extrapolate a connection to the as-yet-unproven suppressant, but it is an interesting theory that her pathological need to be liked is species-related. That Orion women naturally evolved (or were engineered?) to be treasured, and Tendi was just following her natural skills to get a like from someone who didn't like her.

the point is, she's not a girl

The real point is that "girl" is the modern vernacular for "maiden", which is used for "young woman". In fact, the actress playing the role of Kes was in her early twenties, before her character "ascended" in 1997 (VOY, S4E2: "The Gift").

To some. To others, it's offensive. It wouldn't be a bad idea to stop using "girl" as a gesture of respect to those who are offended by it. On the other hand, if you are offended by people trying to control your speech, it wouldn't be a bad idea to just ignore such statements and go on with your day.

This is a semantic argument, the cause of 90% of all arguments (with the other 10% of arguments being caused by people making up fake percentages).

I thought "girl" is simply the female version of "guy", and can mean pretty much any age and any random person

Liked the episode enough to get a screen name out of it, lol.

I want more Freeman/Mariner scenes.

I also want clarity on if it is an open secret that they are mom/daughter, or if no one knows or somewhere in between.

I have to think that at least Ransom has to know, as traditionally executive officers are kept in the loop about important stuff, and Dr. T'Ana, because she has to have access to both their medical records and next of kin information.

Tendi is annoying, and I hope they give her something to do besides being a gushing noob desperate for attention.

I've sat through those meetings ... listening to twenty people arguing over the color of the tablecloths.

It's something that's best handled by a committee. :shifty:
