List of SNW episodes you know they'll do

Mirror Universe

Episodes featuring these characters: Kirk, McCoy, Scotty, Sarek, prime Lorca

In Mirror, Mirror, mirror Kirk's established as having killed mirror Pike to get command of the Enterprise. That's too irresistible an idea, I think. I don't know how closely-aligned events in the mirror universe are to their prime timeline counterparts. Is Kirk supposed to get command of the Enterprise in the prime timeline at the exact same time or around the same time as he did in the prime universe? Somehow I feel like they should be fairly close together, but, I wouldn't be against it happening much earlier.

None of the above. Modern Trek (God I hate that silly term but apparently it's a thing now) has shown it doesn't need the standard old Trek-tropes to tell good stories. Looking forward to what kind of new and fun stuff SNW can bring to the table.

What's wrong with saying "modern Trek"? Is it supposed to mean something other than the present time period?

I used to think (and hope) SNW would do an ep about the Farragut disaster, but then I realized it's not possible since if the Enterprise had shown up to assist, Pike would certainly have ended up meeting Kirk.

And we know that doesn't happen until Kirk takes over command of the Enterprise from Pike, and that's not for like 9 years.

Three sea shells? Always want to know how that works!
No.. As a kid people are fitted with micro transporters in there bladder!

Because the show that ignored cloaking devices in "Balance of Terror" and lots and lots and lots of other things, will be beholden to one line from another episode?

Rumour is Kirk is gonna be a regular in the show, an officer under Pike a la 2009.

IIRC, in the Mirror Universe Kirk served as XO of the Enterprise up until he assassinated Pike and took command. In the Prime Universe, Kirk was transferred to the Enterprise when he took command, with the occasion bein the first time he and Pike met.

Could be the A story and feature Spock and Number One with Pike off the ship involved with the B story.

Yeah its not that big a change if they have him on the Enterprise with Spock as the line spoken was minor.

Its pretty much the only way to see them work as a team before the events of ToS and would explain why Kirk was given command of the Enterprise at a relatively young age, the Enterprise was literally a hand me down.

It will be interesting to see why Spock was passed over in favor of Kirk assuming they are both the same rank in the show, it would also mean Una was also passed over in favor of Kirk as well, unless we see Una move on to command her own ship with Kirk taking over as First Officer on the Enterprise which would also make sense.

Perhaps she ends up being SNW version of Tasha Yar and gets bumped off in the first season, possibly via a big puddle of goo on the floor.

Pike, Spock and No1 have already been recast so there is no reason not to do the same for Kirk as well, perhaps even Scotty and maybe McCoy, they can pretty much do what they want.

You know some will use it as proof that it is an alternate timeline though.

Fun for all involved.

If anything, Kirk should have had command of a ship before the Enterprise. I highly doubt one of Starfleet's twelve most advanced ships is going to turned over to an untested Captain as their first command, regardless of how much of a prodigy they maybe. What might happen is, Kirk might have command of a ship as a Commander, then transfer to the Enterprise and spend time as the XO in preparation for taking command of the ship, kind of like how it works in the US Navy.

Oh, right. "Starfleet isn't a military" is of course we can't expect them to do things that are proven to work.

Why not a story were Pike is off ship.

Logical sense < compelling origin story. I can see them basically retelling Kirk's ST'09 arc over the legth of 10 episodes.

Oh, for...are we allowed to swear in this forum?

Kirk met Pike when Pike became fleet captain, Kirk also took over command of the Enterprise from him, but from dialog it's not clear if both happened at the same time, or if Kirk interact with Pike at all when he took command of the Enterprise.

Maybe SNW will kill off Kirk and leave him dead.

Remember, canon doesn't matter anymore.
