Another totally tone-deaf, laugh-free piece of crap.

Mariner and Boimler are horrible characters. This show is deeply bad.

I'm out. See you when the next CBSAA Trek series drops. Will they make it 0 for 4? All signs point to yes!

So what DID you like? The negative stuff is so common, I'd like to hear what people actually liked even if they don't like the series or episode or whatever. Personally I'm just tired of negativity in this world right now. I get there will be people that don't like the show, but please let us know what good things you CAN find in it all.

I'm getting 'a handful of incels that are annoyed about Burnham' flashbacks here
We should start putting these through that app that makes Trump's tweets look like he wrote them in crayon.
Stop this kind of stuff right now. People can dislike the show and don't need to be belittled for it. Disagree on aspects of the show, but don't attack the posters' themselves. Would be nice if not every one of these episode threads devolves into the same kind of squabbling.

Great episode. Loved the exploration of different cultures on Tulgana IV.

The other references were strong (Prophets, Section 31, Tribbles), and we got some solid development on the Rutherford/Tendi front.

Rating: 2/10 (Remember: Always Vote Low for Lower Decks)

IMHO, Envoys is slightly better than the first episode. This is for several reasons:
  1. They slowed the show down considerably. Aside from a few scenes, the show's pacing does not feel that different from the average Trek episode.
  2. There were coherent character arcs in both the A plot and the B plot this week. Not only that, but they both actually shared a common theme - the sacrifices people will make for the sake of their friends.
  3. There were notably less attempts to make jokes. I only really laughed at one thing this week - the "Janeway protocol" - but it was way, way funnier than anything in the first episode. Aside from that though the episode was lighthearted but not trying to make us bust a gut. Which was fine, because it had heart in spades.
I rated it 8 out of 10 - 1 point better than last week.

Another good episode. I love all the Trek references and in-jokes. In just 25 minutes, we got so much. We got the little ball of light entity which reminded me of the light that impregnated Troi in that TNG episode. We got TNG Klingons, Andorians, and Ferengi that acted like early TNG Ferengi. The woman seducing Boimler reminded me of the woman seducing Picard on Risa in that vacation episode. We got Borg. We got command simulations with "Janeway protocol" which was fantastic. The episode had heart too with Mariner helping to give Boimler his confidence back and also seeing Tendi and Ransom in their budding relationship.

This episode also shows that Mariner is actually very competent despite the attitude. She has street smarts and experience. She probably tried to be a good Starfleet officer in the beginning but it did not pay off. She could not live up to her parent's expectations and she got demoted even when she probably did the right thing so she has a chip on her shoulder. Now, she's like "screw it. I'm just going to do my own thing". But under the attitude, she is a smart and competent Starfleet officer.

So you find it "great", "loved" things, and found others "strong" and "solid", and then you give it a 2 out of 10.
That's just plain old basic voter fraud...
I mean, following that logic, all the downvotes for any LD episode can be ignored because "they only vote down because of the title"... :guffaw:

Not mine. I've laid out a simple plan last week. The best episodes will be 1 or 2, and the worst will be 9 or 10. Downvotes are encouraged, because only true fans love the show enough to downvote.

Not everyone looking at the polls will know this. To them, the universally-agreed definition of "good" is rating something above a 5. And I'm pretty sure everyone thought your post about it before was a joke. (And let's be real, I still think you're joking).

To rate a "great" episode a 2 is misleading to... 99.99999% of people.

7. It was OK. I am still not quite used to the hectic storytelling style and Mariner still talks too fast and is too much of a smart aleck. But it is kind of fun and I am definitely warming up to Boimler.
