I've never seen an episode of The Orville. Some trailers, some scenes. No appeal for me there. Saw a scene today with the actress who played Kassidy on DS9, walking in on her robot boyfriend/husband in underwear. And apparently that's funny AND smart as hell for some reason. Maybe it's because it was out of context, but I've never been drawn to the idea of Orville.
It basically feels like Seth Macfarlane trying to rebuild his childhood as a Trekkie and him being the captain. Something all Trekkies want. He just has the money to get it done I guess.
I mean, nothing makes sense out of context. This is why I don't trust trailers or random clips, I watch the actual show/movie then decide if I like it enough to keep watching.

Honestly, @Mage , if you aren't drawn into it, based on what you've seen, I'm not sure you'll find it for you. But if you do want to give it a shot, its really better to watch from the beginning. You might be lost jumping into the middle of the series. Maybe not. But I always recommend starting from the beginning.

Wow, that was a nice surprise..!

I easily fall in love with any new Trek, have loved the JJ-films, DSC and PIC so much... but I was a bit worried it would take a little longer to warm up to LDS... But I was wrong..! Loved it within minutes, and just the font used for the opening credits was enough to win me over!

In my book, 2017 really started a new golden era for Trek... and LDS is just continuing that... I pity those who are bent on hating anything coming from CBS these days, 'cause you're missing out on an awesome ride..!

Loved the backgrounds, but the humor was just OK and it was a bit too frenetic...Is that how teens are these days?

There were a lot of TNG layers in there, not just references, which is nice to see. I liked the music.

Overall I'd have to see more. As of now I'm giving it a 6/10.

Well ofcourse, but there was nothing in those trailers or snippets that appealed to me. So I don't feel like even trying. Not a big Seth Macfarlane fan to begin with.

I'd never jump into a show midway. But when you video's that say 'funniest moments from Orville' and I don't find that style of humor appealing..... Meh. Not even going to bother with the beginning.

Surprisingly to me, it's not all humor. There are some great drama moments too. Not saying you have to watch it-I gave up after season 1. But, I wouldn't let the humor be the deciding factor.

- Boimler has been serving on the Cerritos (with Mariner) for "a year", since his graduation probably, yet he's only been to three planets (not counting Earth and Vulcan). Doesn't seem to have been an exciting year. Also, first contact with the Galardonians (and the Quito) was more than a year ago, but they're only now getting a Second Contact? Freeman has had Mariner under her command for an entire year and only now decides to get her out?

I don't see anything odd about any of those scenarios.

Or maybe Mariner just learned all about her from her man Worf.

She mentioned Worf earlier while playing with the bat'leth. I think it is a safe bet she knows Worf personally, in which case she has a direct source for the whole story on Troi.

Well Mike already confirmed there will be some legacy characters in this season, so too late for that.

I’m hoping they are more minor characters that add something to the flavor of the show versus big name characters. CBS has already worn those out for me in the other two shows.
