"Picard never challenged me to a fight!" - "Picard never was a God."I can see Q fitting into the tone of this. I want a battle between Q and Sisko Prophet please.
I hope it won't be anyone important, but rather someone like the random guy at conn in an early TNG episode, or at most someone like Simon Tarses or Vorik who got an episode, or were recurring, but mostly without major stories.
Riker and Troi on ENT, McCoy on TNG, Scotty and Chekov on Generations.which previous main cast appearance was bad?
Riker and Troi on ENT, McCoy on TNG, Scotty and Chekov on Generations.
why were they bad?Riker and Troi on ENT, McCoy on TNG, Scotty and Chekov on Generations.
Riker and Troi on ENT was completely distracting and cringe inducing in terms of their reason to be there. It makes little sense in the context of the story.why were they bad?
Probably because the parts were originally McCoy and Spock.Chekov and Scotty were so generic as to feel almost out of character.
John de Lancie might be up for it, though. And Q might be a good fit for Lower Decks. Although I must say that his character (particularly as it was presented on Voyager) hasn't aged well. A lot of his “humor” stems from misogynistic jokes that weren't all that funny even back then.
Likely as not that is the case. It's just very rough.Probably because the parts were originally McCoy and Spock.
The retrofitting was not well done.Likely as not that is the case. It's just very rough.
It wasn't, especially putting Chekov in charge of medical. The retrofitting was not well done.
He's not the XO. More likely to be on Kronos.
In the Picard tie in book The Last Best Hope, it’s revealed Worf became XO (and later, Captain) after the events of Nemesis. It may not be “canon” until it’s confirmed on screen, but it’s been made clear that the show writers are tightly coordinating continuity with the tie-in media.
Even if you ignore the book, it’s clear in Nemesis that Worf had returned to Starfleet after his stint as ambassador.
They've always had holodecks on the D, why wouldn't they run a historic simulation?Riker and Troi on ENT was completely distracting and cringe inducing in terms of their reason to be there. It makes little sense in the context of the story.
Why shouldn't a TOS character send off the first sequel show? Was Picard bad in DS9, or Quark in VOY, or Cochrane in ENT?McCoy is fan service that feels out of place in the narrative. Just a scene to be like "Hey, look, it's McCoy!"
Should Kirk have been on the B alone, with these lines given to no-name B officers? Why would that have been better, and wouldn't it suggest that Kirk has no friends or colleagues left at that time?Chekov and Scotty were so generic as to feel almost out of character.
Connecting the eras is a good reasonNone of them felt very additive to their characters or the world in general. Just placement there to say "Hey, look, these characters are back!"
That is addressed in the novel, they do it despite that earlier concern.Sisko said that Worf would never get a command in Change of Heart because he put saving his wife over an important mission, so I think he will only be XO.
Still doesn't need to be on the Enterprise. Have the XO from the deleted scenes of Nemesis.Even if you ignore the book, it’s clear in Nemesis that Worf had returned to Starfleet after his stint as ambassador.
Because it doesn't make sense for the story as presented. They've always had holodecks on the D, why wouldn't they run a historic simulation?
It didn't make sense in context of the story. Picard, Quark and even Cochrane made sense in context, and not just fan service. Why shouldn't a TOS character send off the first sequel show? Was Picard bad in DS9, or Quark in VOY, or Cochrane in ENT?
Or, better yet, give them lines that feel in character! Chekov's "nurse's line" and Kirk's "I thought you might" to Scotty are painful to me and don't fit with the characters. So, yes, give them to B officers where they might actually fit, rather than the use of "Tuesday" as a running gag.Should Kirk have been on the B alone, with these lines given to no-name B officers? Why would that have been better, and wouldn't it suggest that Kirk has no friends or colleagues left at that time?
Having it make sense in context of the story is a better reason. I don't have objections to characters appearing but have it make sense in the context of the story, and have those characters fit in a way that suits those characters and the story being told. Having them randomly show up 'cause "connecting eras" is not a good enough reason for me. It's fan service for the sake of fan service.Connecting the eras is a good reason
