I never sort of fancied Troi until seeing pics of her in the later seasons of the show! But seeing her now on the web she really is one sexy mama!!! :luvlove:

Again, for what it's worth, aside from cleavage and the notion that it's improper, other officers including men did wear more casual/comfortable variations than standard uniform while on duty.

I don't get Sirtis's claim (though it's probably meant to be comically both serious and not) that Troi was, acted brainless until season 6, that seems pretty harshly dismissive of the character up til then.

It's possible that all of the images would not open for me, but I did not see open chest baring tops on any of the men in the pictures that would open. No male cleavage could be seen.
Is there uniform pictures where all the other crew have high neck uniforms and one male in the picture has his chest hair showing through the low, wide Vneck on his uniform.
    Please attach if possible.
    Thank you.

And the equivalent to female cleavage would probably be more of a similar... presentation of/ hint at off of the men's primary sexual organs.

Naked betazoid wedding is obviously totally missing the point. If everyone is naked, and the camera treats everyone equally, there's hardly a problem. Not one of sexism, anyway. Now, whether it would make good storytelling... would depend on the writers and drectos etc., I guess.

We don't see too much of that as I can recall.
Probably why the uniforms were of a matte looking quality.
Anyone who denies that when are objectified on Trek is living in an alternate universe. Women are objectified on most television shows and movies.
Men are more visual, visually stimulated than women.( for the most part/majority)
Women are to an extent also, of course, but they also want substance ( for the most part/ majority)
When Captain Picard is suddenly reduced by Q to an ensign second grade (or whatever low rank it was) he suddenly wasn't as 'sexy' to me. Bummer but true.
I imagine if Worf were suddenly cowering in a corner, for me, his hotness factor would drop to zero.
I found it annoying that Worf never showed up with the low, wide deep V-neck Jammies.
But that's for a different dicussion.

Well, his brother Kurn showed off that freaky Klingon chest in DS9 "Sons of Mogh."

    Not enough.

To the point above that men wore more casual-wear too, yeah, and the nature of not proves the point. It looks nothing like Troi’s or Seven’s or for that matter Kira or T’Pol’s uniforms. TOS is THE example of female eye-candy in sci-fi back in the day. The television version of those pulp zines with buxom blonds in bikinis being attacked by giant preying mantis aliens from Planet X on the covers — there may have been legit sci-fi in the story, but the window-dressing sure didn’t hurt. The idea that it’s not is having drank the alt coolaid.

I try to watch TOS and some if the stories seem good, but the women in those costumes, most of the time I can't watch very long.
Right now on Broadcast TV at night they show all of the Trek series in order, but they are back in Season 1 of Next Generation!
    Troi's helmet hair sculptures, Yikes!!!
And her insipid comments and actions.
    I tried to watch "Haven".
Troi's betrothed shows up and she is on verge of crying about it? WTF. She knew about him before. She's an Adult.
Oh yea, and The Girl her betrothed is actually in love with, poor thing, lives on a ship where they are to cheap to give her a full length shirt, but it does have large sleeves, which may not actually be attached to the shirt. (Arm bands) (half shirt)

I have read in several places that, yes the Borg suit did put pressure on her artery, but it was the silver outfit which caused her to pass out (and prevented her from bending her torso) hence why it was retired rather quickly and replaced by the (still very tight) catsuits Seven wore for the rest of the show.

Glad I wasn't the only one who wasn't turned on by any of the Star Trek men, I mean Alexander Siddig is quite hot, but his character isn't. And while Avery Brooks is also quite attractive his character, like others have said, was "too old" for teenage me. I do think I had a mild attraction to Tom Paris, though.
I think part of it might be that the way Star Trek presents it men is just not appealing to me, they're all squeaky clean military types with super correct hair cuts and more often than not clean shaven. In SciFi I'm generally more into the "Han Solo" type of guy, especially when I was still a teenager, and that's not really an aesthetic we see a lot in Star Trek.
That being said, while, again the character was awful, I found the actor who played Okona in TNG very attractive.

However with Will Riker, for example, you could make him up however you wanted and I still wouldn't find him attractive. It's nothing against Johnathan Frakes as a person or an actor, I just don't find his face and mannerisms attractive.

The first time I saw TNG Picard looked like he was in his 70's. I thought he looked terrible and too old to be in charge of a "military" ship. I never had any interest in the show until years later after I was out of the Army.
In Re-run, suddenly I thought he was the Cat's meow.

I liked Hans Solo too, and Worf and Sisko, especially after the beard and shaved head!
I never found Siddig attractive at all.
If have dated Quark before Dr. Bashir!
Riker is/was very good looking, very nice features. Almost along the lines of Tom Selleck. (Sp?)

If you're on a date, and he insists that you chew his food for him.. I may have just figured that out.

The boys don't have any molars.

Their molars have all been ground down into incisers.

It's probably a status thing, and the poor just pretend that they don't gave any molars.

Tom Paris could have been more rogue-ish. I don’t know how much the problem was the actor‘s or the writing’s. But he could have been a lot more complex.

Physically, I did think Harry Kim was cute — mostly in “Caretaker” and early early episodes.

I never got the Bashir thing but boy did I know people who did.

Tucker did nothing for me, especially during the Bush years, but I did wonder about Reed. Or Mayweather. Just never got off the ground. Or the basement. The show annoyed the hell out of me.

You know, it’s funny you mention Quark. I just saw Shimmerman in makeup on YouTube on an old episode of Regis and Kathy Lee (Regis videos are trending since his passing). Quark was being flirty with Kathy Lee and there was something about the grotesque makeup I liked...the dark eyes reminded me of a tyrannosaur from Jurassic Park. Anyway, maybe I’m too in touch with my inner freak (high-five, Jadzia), but I did, when you mentioned it, ponder getting it on with the walking nightmare, and it kinda turned me on.

I remember watching a behind the scenes show around the time Voyager premiered (hosted by Picardo), which looked into the making of the show (or it might've been one about the end of TNG hosted by Frakes, honestly can't remember it was a while ago now). They had interviews with the producers throughout and I'm fairly certain it was Berman (I could be mistaken) and he was asked what sort of series he'd want to make in the future, and he jokingly said "Naked Star Trek".

Thinking of the comment now, it really comes across as creepy.

^ yeah. He wasn’t thinking about Picardo.

Although what might have Neelix looked like under the funny suits...

Nah Picardo doesn't do it for me either, and I could never enter find the Doctor attractive.
Though I think that Armin Shimmerman was kinda cute without the Quark makeup.

Yeah see Riker/Frakes is just not my type, I never found Selleck attractive either, I understand he was weirdly popular in the 80s, but he just never did anything for me.

I think Deanna Troi looked her best in Season 7. For one thing, that catsuit never did her justice. And it took the makeup and hair department 6 years to figure out how to make her look hot. So my fav Troi was definitely from season 7 / Generations.

I thought get hair almost always looked good after they got rid of the 1960's hairpiece/ wedding cake hair styles.
I recently watch a couple of episodes where she has this silly looking plastic jewels in a sort of ring on the top of her head.
Totally ridiculous, it would take 3 hours to do that mess every morning.

I have the theory that she slept sitting up during season 1 when she had that ridiculous up-do with the braids and jewels, so she didn't have to re-do it every day. Or maybe on one of those neck-breaking pillows Geisha slept on in the olden days for the same reason.
Not sure how she went about washing her hair though...maybe she didn't, or perhaps sonic showers don't mess up your coiffure? Or maybe the sweat/grime was removed from her hair every time she used the transporter?
If she didn't wash it, imagine sitting next to Troi on the bridge towards the end of season 1...
