I agree. The logos were the big issues. All you got to do is to make the names feel more honorable feeling. As for the tomahawk I don't see anything wrong with it. What's more honorable than a bad ass looking weapon.

Just when you thought Joe West couldn't go farther off the deep end.... Linky

"I don't believe in my heart that all these deaths have been from the coronavirus." Joe, how STUPID can you possibly get? :wtf:

Honestly, I don't think even Angel Hernandez is that dumb.

Joe West's commitment to making wrong calls is admirable.

I attended a game in Atlanta a few years ago and the tomahawk chop was engrained in those fans. There is music, lighting change, the whole bit. Everyone in the stadium does it. Good luck trying to convince them they need to get rid of it.

Won't have to get rid of it if you change the name to the Tomahawks. They wouldn't even have to change the uniforms except to change "Braves" to "Atlanta."

Get rid of the Tomohawk Chop music and imagery on the Jumbotrons, Atlanta, and then we'll talk.

I watched a game in which Joe West invoked the "infield fly rule" on a short fly ball that the shortstop had to sprint about 120 feet into left field to catch and then Joe just stood there with his arms folded, and stonewalled the screaming manager to whom, like everyone else who saw it, the infield fly rule did not apply. The rule states that it applies on a fly ball that an infielder can catch with "ordinary effort." That particular Texas leaguer was caught at a full sprint, at full stretch, hardly ordinary effort.

We could find a million examples of how Joe West is an idiot. He really does need to go into that good night of retirement and take Angel Hernandez with him...(and probably a few others...is Balkin' Bob Davidson still working?)

I think Balkin' Bob retired after 2015 or 2016.

I remember the '97 NL playoffs when Eric Gregg gave Livan Hernandez the largest strike zone in MLB history. I always thought it was because they were both chubby and Gregg was showing his obesity solidarity. Then there's the time Jim Joyce's boner cost Armando Galarraga a perfect game. Joyce at least had the decency to be ashamed and cry about it. And Bruce Froemming in the '95 series calling the Braves runner out on Omar Vizquel's ball drop that Froemming ruled was dropped on the exchange to the throwing hand. The replay showed unequivocally that Vizquel never caught the ball but Froemming adamantly refused to get a second opinion. Ah, the bad old days before replay. And don't forget Denkinger's fuckup and Rich Garcia's on the Jeffrey Maier play.

Dutch Rennert was one of my favorite umps. I don't know how good/bad hes was. I just loved the way he called "strike one."

That would definitely not fit with the idea of shorter games. Dude probably added 3 or 4 minutes a game with those shenanigans.

Jason Varitek was umpiring an intrasquad game and had a hell of a strike three maneuver.

Yeah, but there was no doubt whether it was a ball or strike. When it was a ball, you could really hear Dutch yell, "Ball 1!."

Or in the case of some umpires, total silence.

What's this I hear about Aubrey Huff being named Mets manager? :wtf:

The Mets' website doesn't say anything about it. I really hope this isn't true...

Exactly. I'm not aware of anything happening to Rojas...
