Babylon 5

That's not Kodath, it's Ntoth. Also, use spoiler tags.

I thought we were talking about Na'Toth.

I thought this was a thread for people familiar with the show, it is nearly a thirty year old show, and also not really a bigger spoiler than saying a character disappears after season 2. So if you think we should be spoiler tagging in this thread we should be a little more consistent about where you expect them maybe?

There is a first time viewer who has been actively posting and keeping the thread going. Common courtesy.

I didn't know that, there's no 'No spoilers please' tag on the title and you have to be reading every single post that comes up to know that. And people are not spoiler tagging much more specific things than I said. So either spell out the rules and hold everyone to the same standard or keep it to yourself.

This is a thread that has been used for months as a generic B5 discussion thread, if it's going to be used as a first time viewing thread it needs to be spelled out more clearly and we shouldn't be having spoilers even from first two seasons.

I didn't know that, the thread hadn't been used that way in months and there's no 'No spoilers please' tag on the title. And people are not spoiler tagging much more specific things than I said. So either spell out the rules and hold everyone to the same standard or keep it to yourself.

Now you’re just trolling.

Look, I don’t want to spoil anyone, but if you’re doing first time viewer comments in a generic thread not everyone will know and know where you are, and there’s no call at all for talking down to people about it. Check your attitude.

I mean, if G'Kar had murdered her, it'd be odd that he'd suspect that someone else had murdered her to let potential-assassin Na'toth get her shot at him.
Well it depends on just how paranoid G'Kar was feeling...I mean even if he was guilty, how could he be sure it was really him!? ;)

The only things that have not been coded are things that @janeway's Girl has said she's already seen.

Now that I'm aware I'll make sure to code anything post-her watch through. Just, for people who don't read the thread every day there's no clear way to know someone was doing that. And he could have told me that with a more polite tone.

I didn’t really know what to make of him and then he started telling Sheridan about how the Vorlon found him. When he said he committed “unspeakable acts” I was like “Jack the Ripper?” :wtf:
Yup, that's Jack. He was the chosen one to teach humanity a lesson. The Vorlons showed him his nutty philosophy was just pure hubris. I'm not so sure setting a nutcase to test potential nutcases is a great idea but the show is what it is. It's not the last time this fear of a fanatic in power comes up in the show.

Every time the Jack the Ripper episode comes up I'm reminded of a hilarious line I read from a critic: Why are Americans so much more obsessed with British mythology than the British themselves are?

Something to notice in that episode is the dubbing: Sheridan says "West End", which was instantly spotted as an error when the episode ran in the UK, so it was redubbed to "East End" by the time it ran in the US (for the first several seasons, the last four episodes ran in the US in October, as a lead-in to the new run, after Channel 4 had shown the complete season in the UK).

Good question. What often bugs me more though is that american depictions of the UK almost always seem to be about 50-100 years behind reality, and that the UK consists entirely of central London and some random west country manor house. Seriously, I've seen American TV shows & movies depict supposedly modern day Britain where it's all foggy Victorian cobble streets and bad cockney accents, as if nothing has changed since the late 1800's.

More toe curling to a UK viewer than the cheesy appropriation of Jack the Ripper - a real person, although his identity remains unknown, and he wasn't a mythical figure like Arthur, another cheesy appropriation - was Sheridan's pronunciation of "Coventry" (in the episode Into the Fire IIRC).

One could blame episodes of The Avengers for that. :)

This is not necessary. The isolated emoji replies and the accusations of trolling. While it is accepted that a show that has been over with for as long as B5, we don't have to worry about spoiler tags, etc. However, it is also common to respect when someone requests that we try avoiding them. That can be a little problematic in a thread as large as this one. Just take it easy and be excellent to each other.

If it is that important to be spoiler free, a separate thread can be started if you like using a spoiler tag for the thread title
