I'd definitely like to see what the main TNG characters are up to, but I don't feel the same about characters who only appeared in an episode or two.

My speculation:
LaFORGE: Captain (engineering), San Francisco Fleet Yards
CRUSHER: Captain, Starship USS Nightingale (hospital ship)
WORF: Captain, Starship USS Enterprise-E
WESLEY: Commander (science officer), Starfleet Advanced Technologies Division
GUINAN: Doing whatever she feels like doing

@The Wormhole What? she was in 2 episodes.. Booby trap and Transfigurations.. which was weird since in booby trap they went on a date and it went badly, but in Transfigurations she seems interested again.. and get it on.. and never said again..

Not like I said Lt. Robinson.. who was played by Terri Hatcher.. mmm...

She has a total of three scenes in the entire franchise, and hasn't been seen or mentioned in thirty years. Hell, I think this is the first time in my nineteen years on this board I've even seen her mentioned. Certainly the first discussion about her I've ever taken part in.

She was also in Doc Hollywood with Marty McFly.. remember seeing that movie and thinking.. HEY! thats Christy from Tng! Cool! ..

Amazing where you Re See bit players in other shows/movies :)

Worf - Captain of Enterprise E (Really really hope this tuns out to be true)
Bev - Captain of medical relief ship
Laforge - Captain of engineering station

Well, Worf was on the captains track when he put on the Red in Ds9, even though he got a Demerit after that one mission. Was captain of the Defiant for awhile, so its not a stretch to see him, after 15 years ( Kirk got captain at 34.. so 12 years after graduation from the academy) to captain a ship, Now is it the Enterprise E? maybe.

Laforge, and Beverly were both shown in possible futures to be captains in the own right, or in Laforges case, a novelist.
Laforge can be a whole number of things, Out, a ship captain, running a space dock, or in charge of research for the next class of ship like Leah was.
Beverly can still be a doctor, maybe head of starfleet medical, or some base, or ship etc. or since she occasionally took a command shift means she had aspirations of leading her own ship, so her having her own medical ship isn't to far of a stretch of what happens to her in Tng.
You can also have the person be a "Captain" in rank but in charge of there department, like Spock or Scotty.

But true, it is move up, or move out..

I have a hard time believing Worf is still Captain of the Enterprise, if what happened in the novels comes to pass in the series.

When Zhaban recommends people who can go with Picard on his mission he recommends Riker, Geordi, and Worf. Why would Zhaban recommend Worf if he was still in command of the Enterprise? I'm not seeing it.

Plus every instinct tells me that if they show the current Enterprise, it's going to be the F. Dramatically, I think if they ever want to show an Enterprise, they'll want it to be one that isn't Picard's and never was. To further drive home the passage of time. Business-wise and hype-wise, I think they'd want to show off a new Enterprise, not stick with an old one introduced in 1996.

I don't think we have to worry about what happened in the novels. For all we know, Worf may only have been a captain for a few years by the time of PIC (maybe someone else took over immediately after Picard left and it took awhile for Worf to move up).

Zhaban was simply referring to Picard's closest able-bodied friends at the time.
Can't some of these people become civilians? Completely unconnected to Starfleet. It's a big Federation.
Picard is now a civilian. On a ship of civilians.

I'm thinking Beverly left the fleet and is doing private practice or research.
Geordi is still in the fleet, maybe a captain of SCE.
Worf would probably either be still an ambassador or simply just living the Klingon live.

I wouldn't be surprised if Will decided to make his acting captain gig a more permanent one. Him and Deanna had some very good reasons to leave the fleet, but their little girl is growing up quite a lot and I think they realize that there's potential in them still.

While I do agree that is the most likely scenario, if we were looking at things realistically, there's no reason barring destruction the E couldn't still be in service. After all, as of season 1 of Picard it would only be twenty-seven years old at that point. Though given they will need to make a new CG mesh anyway, I can easily see them making a new ship altogether. Or if they really wanted to be cheap about it, just make the Enterprise F the same class as Riker's ship from the finale, which Riker did say was Starfleet's newest and most advanced starship class.

Mind you if the Enterprise E has been destroyed, that would mean four, possibly five out of seven Enterprises were destroyed. We don't know the fate of the B, but I'm guessing it was likely destroyed or else the C wouldn't have been in service as soon as it was given the lifespan of the Excelsior class. So if we do go with five Enterprises being destroyed, that's over half. Indeed, only two ships of that name avoided destruction and were decommissioned, which makes Enterprise look like a cursed name. I'm thinking Starfleet might want to look into retiring the Enterprise name.

Captain "Perhaps today is a good day to die!" Worf. That's all you need to know.

Clancy: We're sending the Enterprise into the most dangerous mission we can possibly think of.
Worf: Prepare for ramming speed!

Later on...

Clancy: How the fuck did you escape with all hands?
Worf (smiling): Guile.
