News Superman & Lois Ordered to Series at The CW

I like that idea, this way they can give us a real conclusion to the current Lex arc on Supergirl, or if they want just keep him on there.

I don't get why this is pandering. Were fans demanding this alternate version? Please explain.
It's "pandering" anytime white actors don't retain exclusive ownership of a character in perpetuity.

And just to get ahead of the Kirk Prime game, opposition to this not-at-all racist stance is "fake outrage," motivated by "virtue signaling" and a desire to "check boxes" because one is an "SJW."

Oh, I should have looked at the article. I was suspecting it was because Lex had been changed into a woman.

They definitely made an interesting choice with Lex.

I never cared for Cryer in the role anyway, and he never really had chemistry with the CW Superman from what I could tell, so introducing a new one makes sense. Luthor's race doesn't really matter, and the only people that have a problem with it are people that should be ignored anyway.

I'm just surprised that they didn't introduce a teenage Lex to fight the stupidly aged up Super babies, since this show is more about them the the actual title characters by all accounts.

Cryer is fucking amazing, a stunningly successful example of counterintuitive casting paying off big time. As for his interactions with Hoechlin's Superman, he's had none -- not even during "Crisis," oddly enough -- so their chemistry has never been tested. I feel like the producers consider Cryer's Lex as "belonging" to Supergirl, hence introducing this new incarnation for Superman & Lois.

Indeed.

Uh-huh. And now who should be ignored?

Did anyone throw a fit when the late Michael Clarke Duncan was cast as The Kingpin in the 'Daredevil' movie? I happened to think he was one of the best things in the movie.

Sure, the racists whined and kicked like they always do, but of course they didn't speak for the rest of us.

I thought they had interacted, maybe during the crossover that originally involved the reality changing book? But if I'm wrong about that, then that's on me. I'm still not a fan of cryer, but you're probably right that he feels like a "Supergirl" character at this point, he fits better with her then with Superman.

The voices in kirk55555's head.

The fact that they are going to be a big, if not the biggest, part of the show was already said. They should be under 1 year old, and there should only be one of them. instead, its CW thinking that every fucking show needs to either be about teens/pre-teens or have characters for them, instead of focusing on the title character. Superman hasn't had a real live action TV show since the 50s (the shitty 90s romcom doesn't count, since Superman was barely a cameo in it, and Smallville was very much about Clark instead of Superman), at most there should be one kid that pretty much only exists to be put in danger or be an annoying distraction from the plot (basically taking the old Lois role from before she was allowed to be more then a damsel in distress).

I don't want to watch a show about Superman's shitty kids, but thats what they've made, because the CW is generally terrible and the people running the CW DC shows are incompetent hacks. I mean, Supergirl is the second worst CW DC show after Legends (although Fake Batwoman might take second place from Supergirl next season), so it makes sense that Superman would also be fucking terrible and miss the point of having a superman show (the point being we get to see Superman as the focus character doing superman/Clark Kent things).

Does the '80s Superboy show not count since it's Superboy rather than Superman? If that's the case, then shouldn't Smallville also not count.

The following shows all "count":

Adventures of Superman
Superboy
/The Adventures of Superboy
Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
Smallville
Superman & Lois
(forthcoming)

Supergirl, of course, is integrally tied to the mythos, as was the late, lamented Krypton. And Titans and Black Lightning have also featured Superman-derived characters in major roles.
