She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

Definitely enjoyed it overall, though it doesn't quite feel like a finale as in "we're done with this world" since while most of the personal stories are tied up, there's quite a few dangling threads with regards to the world building. It feels like they're leaving the door open to a second order of episodes from Netflix.

My one and only complaint about the romance subplot is that while I 100% buy into Catra's feelings, I'm not sure I'm sold that Adora felt the same way. Up until this point it's only felt like a one-sided, jilted/unrequited love thing and this season didn't quite close the distance for me.

Side Note: I may have missed something, but what happened to the three Horde cadet characters? Didn't they desert? I feel like they should have been in the rebel camp or something but I don't recall them popping up in this season at all save for an offhand mention.

They appear in the final episode. But very briefly.

No girlfriend = dress = easy access.

Girlfriend = trousers = domes, buckles, fasteners, velcro, and 80 seconds of mucking around before boom boom.

That's even if the She-Ra construct has sex organs and she's not a drone possessing some vacant ken doll midsection, if the body is completely fabricated by bashful virgin scientists, and not a temporarily morphed stretched out Adora.

Pants ruin everything.

At least with Supergirl they had an excuse.

Melissa was cold.

Is Adora cold?

NO!

She's a fricking cartoon.

They all should have paired up earlier, or in different episodes to explore the ramifications of what those relationships mean. It's almost like they waited till the end so that the Christians and other groups wouldn't threaten a boycott.

Is Bo King Bo or Prince Consort Bo?

Is Catra going to trim her nails? Oh and you know how regular cats have like really scratchy tongues? I guess it's good that her new girlfriend is superhuman and semi-invulnerable?

How many minutes until Mermista shoots Seahawk with a gun, and of course every time that she shoots him, she has to put off their break up by a couple weeks. That they liked each other was obvious, but he is a hill worth of red flags, and she deserves better.

Well, my friend was kind enough to not just give me access to his Netflix account, but make me my own profile, so I was able to watch the final season, and oh my freaking goodness that was something special. So many fabulous little details, so many powerful moments, so incredibly satisfying to watch. There's one moment in particular I really want to screencap; you can probably guess which. :-)

I wouldn't be surprised to see a future return to Etheria, given how open things were left. Regarding Adora's feelings, I think they were always there, she just couldn't understand them until Catra put a name to them. May have to watch again to be sure, though. Such a chore. :-p

Horde Prime's character design bugs me -- those two little extra eyes above and below his right eye. I mean, if you extrapolate the size of the actual eyeballs, assuming spheres equal in diameter to the maximum width of the eyes, there's just no way they could be that close together. I know, I know, cartoons, artistic license, but it still bugs me.
If you assume they're orbs, then sure. But if you assume he's biomechanical, which there are other indicators that he might be, then those eyes could be flat or semi-flat sensors, and then the problem goes away.

That was *amazing*, a perfect ending for a perfect show.

I really liked how She-Ra was redesigned for this season and I also really liked the new Sword of Protection.

I like how she has Glimmer's shoes, Bow's heart and Catra's mask.

Wrong Hordak winking? ;)

Agreed.

I hadn't noticed that! The attention to detail in this show is ridiculous. Rewatching the whole show, now, and still spotting new things.

On that note, did anyone else notice the subtle way they confirmed Catra has fur?

Good choice, but wrong. So many screencappable moments, really. Mine's the one in the final episode that made me whoop and fist-pump so hard my laptop fell over. Though, there was another one shortly afterwards...

I miss it already. I hope they do an “into the future” special someday. See how everyone is.
Maybe they switch it around this time and use a She-Ra special to introduce Adam and show his He-Man origin story...
"You are called She-Ra when you use the sword? Well, I guess I need an equaliy cool name then. Let's see, you are She...Ra. How about He... Man?"
"That's not how this.."
"He-Man it is, fuck yeah!"

Be careful what you wish for. ;)

Seriously though, it still didn't really feel like an ending to me. More like and end of a beginning, or a protracted origin story, and only now they're finally in a place where the *real* story can start.

It's been my presumption since the first season that they'd take this kind of approach, or at least leave the door open for it.
If not Adam/He-Man specifically, the Eternia connection overall seems like a fairly major plot thread to leave dangling.

It was nice lore fluff, but hardly a major plot thread.
It's implied to be the main main character's place of birth. The idea that the Ancients are extinct is a major thread throughout the show and directly impacts almost every element of the world building. There mere fact that Adora exists at all proves their decedents at least are still out there somewhere.
That's a little more that "fluff", no?

For the story this show was telling, not really. It's basically Númenor.
Good analogy. If there is a continuation of some sort, I'd only want them to deal with more Eternian/First Ones lore if it serves the story, not for its own sake.

I'd go more with a Krypton anaolgy, with Eternia as Argo or Kandor. Nothing to do with the immediate personal story being told, but something very significant left dangling nonetheless.
