Battlestar Galactica getting rebooted (again) for NBS's streaming service

I liked the ending of Lost. I remember reading somewhere though that the island was never supposed to be purgatory and the flash forwards in the final season were written as a bit of fan servicing--which was fine with me because it fit the series. I didn't need all the details of how the "magic" was supposed to work in order for the series to make sense.

BSG---while I really enjoyed the series, the whole "and they have a plan" really ticks me off whenever I rewatch it. No, Ronald, you didn't have a plan.

The plan was to make hybrids to survive as a species.

Of course the Cylon plan was to use farms to make Hybrids.

What they did to Agathon, a lone survivor falling in love with a toastergirl, was probably an experiment that was repeated a thousand times simultaneously across the 12 colonies.

Regardless, 250,000 years later, and the Hybrid species was sitting pretty.

They did have a plan. Make lots of money make lots of good tv episodes and also do a edgy space opera and also piss of Dirk Benedict.
He didn't take Starbuck-as-a-female well

"Lost In Castration" By Dirk Benedict

The best minds in the world of un-imagination doubled their intake of Double Soy Latte’s as they gathered in their smoke-free offices to curse the day that this chauvinistic Viper Pilot was allowed to be. But never under-estimate the power of the un-imaginative mind when it encounters an obstacle (character) it subconsciously loathes. ”Re-inspiration” struck. Starbuck would go the way of most men in today’s society. Starbuck would become “Stardoe.” What the Suits of yesteryear had been incapable of doing to Starbuck 25 years ago was accomplished quicker than you can say orchiectomy. Much quicker, as in, “Frak! Gonads Gone!”

And the word went out to all the Suits in all the smoke-free offices throughout the land of Un-imagination, “Starbuck is dead. Long live Stardoe!”

I’m not sure if a cigar in the mouth of Stardoe resonates in the same way it did in the mouth of Starbuck. Perhaps. Perhaps it “resonates” more. Perhaps that’s the point. I’m not sure. What I am sure of is this…

Women are from Venus. Men are from Mars. Hamlet does not scan as Hamletta. Nor does Hans Solo as Hans Sally. Faceman is not the same as Facewoman. Nor does a Stardoe a Starbuck make. Men hand out cigars. Women “hand out” babies. And thus the world for thousands of years has gone’ round.

The cylons had a plan, just the writers didn't.

I don't know if you saw 'The Plan', but it's clear the plan was just targeted terrorism and it was repeatedly undermined by cylons developing feelings for humans. Like the 4 who spaced himself when Cavell ordered him to blow up his wife's ship.

Basically, Cavell just wanted to kill humans in the most drawn out painful way possible. The other models wanted to build a civilization just like humans in its place. As they emulated more human feelings, it became harder and harder for them to continue killing humans until the plan fell apart and only the 1s really wanted to stick to the original plan.

I hope that, in whatever form this new series takes, they minimize references to the Cylon "plan" in every way and focus on the main characters who find themselves in unknown space, maybe separated from the main RTF for a good long while and moving about on their own. Of course, this might not make sense if the show is still called "Battlestar Galactica", if the titular vessel is never focused on.

Either way, and for the love of all that does not suck, if they come up with new mysteries and other cool backstories, PLEEEEEZE have them be contingent to the plot and not just some throw-away shiny bauble to distract the viewers. There really needs to be payout for such things.

In other words, a less funny version of....

If they don't release a teaser by SDCC, announcing the premier date for the new Battlestar Galactica spin off series. I myself will think there not going be any series at all.
If I remember right. The first announcement of Star trek Discovery was in April 2017. The first teaser and the title of the new star trek series and in late May. The first trailer release was SDCC and the series started streaming on CBS All Access mid fall of 2017. Also they were opening telling us what going on, without giving anything away.
Not for Peacock and Universal studios. They keeping close minded. Keeping everything behind close. Making everyone thinking are there going a movie and a series at all.
The announcement of the movie was in 2016 and the series was in September of 2019.
The movie itself should had trailers release by now. even with couple rewrites. On the series, the show runner and writing team announce within a month. The first teaser, and trailer and title of the series should had been release and announce by now.

Trailers? You actually need actors, a script, a director and something on film to do a trailer!

You're forgetting one little thing - Announcements and production of all seasons of Discovery were pre-Coronavirus, and with an established studio that was highly motivated to see it succeed, knowing its inherent market value. Damn near everything is still on hold right now, with only a few things just now starting to open up again. BSG's long history of head-fakes over the years notwithstanding, I wouldn't read too much into not hearing anything from this production for quite some time to come.

If anything, we can assume it won't happen, simply because every time someone has expressed an interest in doing a new BSG, film or series, continuation, reboot or otherwise, it invariably evaporates into nothingness within months of a grandiose announcement, never to be heard from again until someone new comes up 3-5 years later and says, "I'll do it!" and disappears again. Rinse and repeat. This has all happened before, I guaran-fucking-tee it will happen again.

Discovery was luck that S3 was in the can. It shoots in Toronto and the Ontario is still under a state of emergency until 30th and it's unknown when TO will move on from Stage 1 re-opening.

...and then there's the tiny little detail that SDCC has been cancelled. Ain't nothing getting a SDCC trailer this year.
Base on that SDCC been cancel this year and probably next year. Why do you think I was referring to this year, when I've never mention the year.
Beside they don't need any thing like comic con to release a teaser or a trailer.
Then again, there not going be any teasers or trailers release this year or even the next.
Maybe animation movie and series might get release this year or maybe not.
After I had posted this I went over to SDCC website, there is going to be a SDCC 2021. Unless that get cancel to?

I highly doubt anything has been filmed given they have just announced that it's being made. I doubt that there are even scripts at this stage since we haven't heard anything about writers yet. Certainly they haven't cast anyone or even at the casting phase at this point. Maybe in a year or two depending on how the current pandemic continues to develop.

If it actually ends up getting made of course.

Yeah, basically the idea behind the flash forwards in the last season was that it was everyone coming together in the afterlife after they died, an undetermined amount of time after the island, and not all at once.

Totally wrong. The first news of Star Trek Discovery being in development came in November 2015. The title and first teaser of the show came in July 2016.
You are right. I kind of forgot. I thought the announcement and airing all took place all in one year. Until I've found my post I've posted in 2014. In it I mention that CBS was looking at 4 scripts. 3 of them they didn't like. The fourth one they like, which was The Romulan War and the NX-01 will be in it. Then at the end of the post. I've posted CBS won't announce it until 2015. Which no one believe me at all.
Even if I had posted, CBS won't announce a new star trek series until 2015. No one still would have believe me.
Also in the same tread, someone mention, I wonder why they won't make Lower Decks. Which was several post above my. The Tread itself was about Netflix, Enterprise, season 5.
