Wow that is a lot of sea duty! My Dad was first on USS Hydrographer, converted CGS vessel. The oil tanker, near Casa Blanca, blew up before he reported to it! Grace and Peace!
Some ship trivia—there was a “High Flyer” at both the Halifax and Texas City ship explosion disasters. There was a small ship explosion recently.
I.looked those two incidents up, most distressing! The Japanese Imperial Navy had a huge carrier made from a Yamato class battleship hull that exploded after a fire got out of control bellow the flight deck. Somehow the Ross stayed together after the two mines at Leyte Gulf!
