Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Are you making a joke? “Android” is a word in the dictionary. If I write a book and use the term ‘android,’ I’m pretty sure I don’t have to pay Disney squat.
Yeah, my brief reading is that "droid" is copyrighted and Android is copyrighted (or trademarked) for phones only.

Not a lawyer, don't play one on TV.

A photo from the filming of a deleted scene from the series finale seems to show a 2399 Starfleet uniform variant

I had missed this Trek Central vid from April 19th:

I wonder if it's a cheapo variant only intended for distance shots?

Unless because the collar appears to be cut differently this is the 2399 version of the more rugged work jumpsuits and uniforms in much the same way the original DS9 and VOY uniforms were the more work-designed outfits for officers who weren't wearing their regular TNG-style duty uniforms. Then those jumpsuits eventually became the norm on stations like Deep Space 9 while older TNG designs were worn elsewhere.

I'm running this in the background right now as I take care of things around the house. And I had to pause it to say I agree with their discussion about wondering what Picard is now. This is a rich topic that I hope we see a lot about in the second season.

Time marches on. My father listens to Classic Rock stations. They used to play music from the '60s, '70s, and early-'80s. Now it's full '80s and '90s. What does this have to do with Picard? Everything, strangely. TNG is now the Classic Rock when it used to be TOS, and Picard is Alternative.
Groovy.

This is more question than discussion, but asking here since it doesn't deserve its own thread: is "Children of Mars" the only Picard-relevant Short Trek?
From the dates on memory alpha, it seems to be, but just making sure.

(please avoid spoilers for the other Short Treks)

No spoilers but yes it has a major role throughout the entire first season of Picard.
