Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

Whew. Finally caught all the way up to now on this thread. A lot to take in. :)

I know the word has other meanings in line with Federation values, but until contradicted on screen, I'm liking the idea that the existence of the "Equity-class" means the Ferengi joined the Federation.

I wonder if fans would have been happier if we got some Discovery Federation ships among the fleet instead of just the one new class?

I wouldn't have minded some Discovery ships, but they probably would have wanted to "age" them a bit. And that might have been as much work as adding additional designs?

On a side note, I'm pretty sure that even though they had the model for the -D ready from earlier in the series, the reason they didn't use Galaxy-classes in the fleet was that the -D model clearly got a lot of love, time, and attention to detail. Would've made the rest look awful by comparison.

Honestly, Discovery's ship designs fits a post 24th century vibe then a Pre-TOS vibe more.
I kind of see it...sort of. But, I feel its more a weird mash-up of ENT and TMP. Which is fine by me, since I never subscribed to the fan theory that they all looked like the Enterprise, despite my intense love of Franz Josephs work.

Equity...I like it. Especially in these times. It's an answer to a Problem.

Plus, it may also speak of Ferengi rapprochement with the Federation.
