NFL 2020 Season: We're gonna bite a kneecap off

The Bears have had a few up years in the last few decades, but you guys....jeez.

I still can't figure why Detroit always gets the Thanksgiving day game when they've been so bad for so long. Dallas hasn't been too good either. They should rotate that "honor".

It's always fun getting a national audience to get our butts kicked.

On his way out the door today, Darius Slay threw some shade at Matt Patricia, which some people think is baloney content-wise, but the fact that he is even doing it makes me feel that this Quinn-Patricia mini-Patriots experiment is a failure. I was one of the people that felt the team was stuck with Jim Caldwell, but Patricia has just shown to be a bumbling idiot. It's rare to get Lions games on cable in central Ontario (we get all the Bills games), but in each of the handful of games I saw, there was at least one time per game where I was screaming at him through the TV. I really don't know if this is because of poor ownership being hoodwinked or what, but golly.

Todd Gurley signs with the Falcons, 1 year/$11 million.

That didn't take long.

The “LA” logo is wack, but I took a look at the pics of the Rams’ new uniforms online and they’re not bad. They kept the iconic horns of course, both gold and my favorite, white, but the horn design is still essentially the same. One of the uniforms appears to include dark blue socks and black shoes which is a nice retro look.

I think once we see the units and hats on the players they’ll look a lot better. I’m looking forward to seeing them in the new digs.

The final logo looks marginally better - not quite as cartoonish as the first concept that came out earlier. Still don’t think it’s that great, though. They’ll probably be doing retro uniforms frequently this upcoming season. :)

I started a new Madden franchise today using the Bears, used the file name: CORONABEARS.

SoFi Stadium (Rams, Chargers) may not be ready for the start of the 2020 NFL season.

The Rams and Chargers may need contingency plans soon. Expected to open in July, SoFi Stadium is less certain to be ready for Week 1. Rams CEO Kevin Demoff is no longer committing to the site being ready by that time.

Our stadium, and I believe the Raiders’ stadium as well, will both be amazing when they are finished and when they will begin play, which will certainly happen in the near future, whether that’s in July, August, September, in 2021,” Demoff said, via Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times. “I don’t think you can look at either of these stadiums as short-term projects to finish but rather long-term beacons for the franchises and for the NFL.”

RIP former NFL kicker Tom Dempsey to that stupid virus.

63 yards with a 1 or 2 step run up.

I would love my Lions to make a run at him because why not? It's not like we can get any worse.

At this point, I have to wonder how this coming season is going to work. True, the pre-season is still a ways away, but how are the teams going to handle their training. Sure, they can work out in their own personal gyms but they can’t work that closely together in real team play right now. How will group cohesion suffer? Then there’s the financial consideration - people just won’t go to see live games. Clubs will lose revenue and become unsustainable.

Baseball looks to be in even worse shape, at present. They don’t have salary caps and their season should be starting now.

Yeah, it's too bad. Obviously the quality of play wasn't up to snuff but I really liked some of the innovations they came up with. I hope some of them get adopted by the NFL, like the kickoff and points-after-touchdown system.

I thought the XFL was improving with each passing week, but being forced to cancel half its inaugural season was probably a financial blow it couldn't recover from.

Pass Interference will no longer be reviewable.

https://www.profootballrumors.com/2020/04/pass-interference-wont-be-reviewable-in-2020

Maske reports that owners won’t even take a vote on the issue and the pass interference replay review rule will simply be allowed to expire. In a separate tweet, Maske notes that teams “overwhelmingly indicated” they didn’t want the rule renewed for another season. In a huge move last offseason, the league made pass interference penalties reviewable by coach’s challenges and by the booth.

I'm glad they've taken this off the table.
