Lines you find amusing

From my least favorite TOS episode,

“Hail, hail fire and snow....etc. etc.”

:techman:

That aside, I can't think of a better way to defeat the army of menacing snowmen than with flamethrowers... especially when their leader, the dreaded Gorgon, is wearing a shower curtain because water - frozen or otherwise - will make him melt.

Shatner looks like Oliver Hardy when the hundreds of Tribbles land on his head and he just stays there pushing one or two here and there just like Ollie did while sitting in a fireplace pushing soot into a pile around his feet as bricks continually fall on to his head!
JB

Actual lines:

Still, I too think these are my favorite "amusing" lines over all. :rommie:
It's been a while since I saw the episode. I don't know how I could have forgotten Kirk's reply. It's a shame how few writers take advantage of Vulcan wit. It always leads to some great deadpan humor.

Just thought of another great example of an actor utterly nailing a minor line: George Takei saying, "Secondary target now moving beyond our phaser lock," in "Mirror, Mirror."

I don't think that George Takei is even on camera when he says that line, but you can just tell from the irritated tone of voice he uses that Mirror Sulu is SO OVER this shit. He just wants to fire phasers at some damn Halkans already. The whole line just carries a subtext of: "Goddammit, Kirk, will you just get your shit together already? We've already dealt with this ion storm, Uhura still won't give me the time of day, and my trigger finger's getting itchy.":lol::lol:

The height of Vulcan wit is being George Burns to everyone else's Gracie Allen, making such pithy straight lines that any response has to be funny.

I think that is Alternative Factor, where Kirk lets Lazarus A/B/C/D  run around the ship unmolested and causing all kinds of chaos.

It is indeed TAF. The security breaches in that episode make my head hurt. Another gem is "Sir - you shouldn't be here." "I'm sorry; I didn't KNOW!!!!!!!"

Great, great call. I love that line. Takei delivers it perfectly. In fact that entire initial bridge scene on the ISS-E is absolutely perfect. The dialogue and acting are incredible.

And boom that incompetent transporter Chief was fired and never seen again. Ensign Kyle got a promotion to Lieutenant and became the new transporter chief after that.

. . . aaaaaand promptly allowed both a deranged McCoy and Khan to escape the ship and nearly change history and kill the entire crew, respectively. I think if there's one thing I would change about Star Trek, it's the ridiculous security lapses.
