News Coronavirus Pandemic Information and Support Group

It's easier to recover from losing a job than losing a life ... infinitely easier.
But without any guarantee of a treatment or a vaccine ever actually being made, you are basically looking at a complete collapse eventually. Starvation, riots, all that stuff. Permanent lockdown is impossible.

Not to mention civil unrest and the possibility of suicide because there is nothing to live for. I just checked the map and there are 600 deaths recorded because of this thing, and it sucks even harder that it's going to go up. That absolutely sucks and it's a bad bad situation. There are millions of Americans (And much much more than that of people living all around the world) who just became unemployed last week though, and if they were living paycheck to paycheck, they no longer have a way to make ends meat, but hey, if they are living in house arrest for years on in at least they are alive right?

And I'm being called a sociopath?

Without having significantly measures of control over the spread of the virus and significant rethinking about how people work and congregate in public, "restarting" is not only meaningless, it is tragic. Ending the orders to stay at home or shelter in place will also give people a false sense of security about their health.

BTW, another great way to crash the economy would be to overwhelm health insurance providers all at once.

And on the other hand, the prediction for death toll if the country is completely opened up is... 4 MILLION deaths. And that's not a guarantee that it will stop there. If you can get reinfected relatively quickly and herd immunity is impossible, this would just be a very slow apocalypse.

So you either die from the virus or wait to die because of everything else that comes because of the virus. Either way that is a very grim thought. I have to keep hope that we will find something of good news soon. Maybe it's blind hope, but anything else is just not good at all.

By the way, I think it is good that everything has become shut down, and I do not want to see this virus spread faster than it already has. However, life has to go on so we need to figure out a way to stop the spread of this virus, bring on various treatments make sure it's safe to go back to work, and do that as quickly as possible.

We need to stay locked down until the peak is reached, and then continue until the number of new cases is totally manageable. Then we implement south korean style contact tracing and just keep the virus contained.

Also my nightmare scenario seems very unlikely. Vaccines will probably work, treatments will probably be found, and reinfection is probably unlikely. So it's not the end of the world.

I agree. I just hope it's better than what I've been hearing about this 18 month time frame. Like I said, I have to hope for good news because everything else is just bad and depressing.

Yeah I actually started antidepressants yesterday. Couldn't deal with the bad news anymore, it probably triggered a latant depression in me or something.

The good news that got me through the day is the expectation that Italy has already peaked, but today's reversal of the short trend was devastating. I need a light at the end of the tunnel, and I need it soon.

Based on the comments in this thread, you're alive and your depression be damned. I don't share that outlook. I hope you (And everyone) take care of yourself and are not afraid to talk to people (Online or video or phone call) to boost your moral.

I'm worried about that too, but how do be balance the two.

No you don't care. I would have the Dow go to negative numbers and EVERYTHING closed for 3 months like China just to save ONE 110 year old.

You can be in house arrest for 2-3 months at a time. You know how long death is? It's house arrest that never ends.

So once again I repeat, fuck the economy, fuck them all. Once this is over I hope Americans finally wake up and take to the streets and burn shit down, figuratively at first and then literally if need be.

The federal government gave the banks TRILLIONS of dollars in the fall and that did nothing. Just think of what trillions could do to normal Americans instead of corporations. Right away banks got 1.5 trillion dollars and no one batted an eye, but now Americans can't get $2000 a month?

Fuck that. Let it burn.

It's only been like three weeks in Italy, they have two more months at least.

Someone in my neighbourhood, who has bad lungs and only comes outside wearing a mask to get groceries, was deliberately coughed in his face by some youth. :censored:

I think health insurance providers will be just fine. 95% of the time they get paid for nothing. That should cover the gouging that goes on at hospitals and doctor's offices the 5% of the time they actually have to pay out.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

I kind of agree that the 18-month frame is impossible. Economics aside, I don't think the New York lockdown will be politically or socially sustainable for anything like that.

Ultra-violet light therapy to kill the virus
We have to look at the possibility that there might not be a vaccine for the virus. Thinking in this manner allows us to set the stage to develop machinery that will be able to vacuum the air in then using a UV light to then kill any bacteria or viruses drawn into the filer.

SARS-CoV-2 is present in water droplets that are exhaled outwards.

Water can be super heated to kill the virus by boiling that little knuckler alive.

Since the virus hangs in the air for up to three hours, filter systems in homes and businesses and even out in the public will be needed to scrub the air, kill the virus and then return the clean air back into the environment.

NEW YORK, NY (Feb. 9, 2018)—Continuous low doses of far ultraviolet C (far-UVC) light can kill airborne flu viruses without harming human tissues, according to a new study at the Center for Radiological Research at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC).

https://www.wilsonbrothers.com/indoor-air-quality/ultra-violet-lights/

The first test should be to use a Bondic UV light wand to see if the UV light kills that virus on surfaces. If the UV light kills the virus on the surface then perhaps a new medical procedure can be developed where a UV tube is inserted down the infected persons throat to kill the virus.

Not certain how to use UV light to penetrate the lungs of the infected person without causing their chest to explode due to the sudden boiling of the fluid in the lungs.

The goal is too heat the fluids of the lungs just enough to kill the virus without killing the infected.
The same goal in the outside environment is also the same. Heat the air just enough to cause the virus in the water droplets to die.

Sound frequencies might also work to help reduce the amount of time the droplet are in the air containing the virus by causing the water droplet to burst.
Let's keep the theorizing out of this thread please, Dryson. It's irresponsible to spread misinformation and largely unproven (especially on this virus, which is not the flu) or impractical methods.
