Apparently those top men couldn't be bothered to hide their work in a better location when the Soviets came sniffing around. ;)

I cant see Rios as a hologram at this point.

If he is then he was able to fool Agnes under the sheets which is a bit beyond the ability of any mobile emitter I am aware of, its possible she is keeping his secret but I just don't see it myself, plus it would be hard to fool Raffi for long.

Its most likely going to be a younger recast version of Picard or Data as I doubt Patrick or Brent could really get away with it now, it is possible they could cheat and go full CGI versions but that would be very expensive, clearly Picard's character is running out of time so something has to happen to give him more time, plus there is no real need for Data to return now that Soji is around.

So right now my money is on Picard himself, the very specific conversation that Soong had with Jurati about working towards a successful mind transfer was pretty blatant as well.

If they do recast Picard or Data it will be tricky to pull off although the recasting done in the new Star Trek films and Discovery worked very well indeed.

I can't see them recasting Picard, the whole point of the show is seeing Patrick Stewart back as the character, so recasting him would kind of defeat the point.
I could see it becoming a new Data who reflects Brent Spiner's current age, long before I could see them recasting Picard. Maybe they make it look Soong's son, but then end up putting Data in there instead.

Re-casting Picard as someone younger would undercut the entire show. They should save it for a Stargazer Prequel.

Picard's mortality seems like it's part of the fabric of the series. Making him "immortal" would cheat the show of that.
Yeah it would, it doesn't really make sense that they would bring back Data looking older though either plus I doubt Brent would want anything long term, Patrick had to twist his arm to get him to do as much as he has, mind you he could have just been playing hard to get.

No doubt someone is going in that body though, they couldn't have made it any clearer with the dialogue.

The series as a whole ends with Picard dead. Permanently dead. That's my understanding here. There will be no mind-transfers to save him, nor offers from the Q Continuum accepted...nor any of the other outs that the Trek multiverse could offer him. He'll either spurn them all, or they'll be denied to him. I'm betting on the former.

And I'll go further: that's exactly what Stewart insisted upon when he agreed to this series. It's the Last Ride of Jean-Luc Picard, and we'd best accustom ourselves to that premise.

It also raises the stakes slightly from a pop-culture POV of getting this coronavirus pandemic resolved swiftly. Because Sir Patrick won't be with us forever either.

Yeah this has felt like a handover series from the start plus a platform to launch a new show in the 25th century.

Even if he is given a way to survive he wont take it, that's assuming he is given a choice in the matter.

I don't get the impression that Brent has signed on for the long haul either, whether it is playing a Soong or Data/Lore.

Either way Picard is safe until we see Q again, they have unfinished business.

but it's the same old Soong
Shoulda stopped there.

The best was an encounter between Raffi and Picard where we see that they really did mean as much to each other as Riker and Picard did
That scene couldn't help reminding me of...

"The Horga'hn is for a friend."
"I see...someone close to you."
"That's right."
"Someone you love."
"I wouldn't go that far."
