Data killed a lot of cats.

(On TNG, the gender switched once or twice.)

There's no way that that is only Spot 2.

Worf killed one...at least, in Phantasms.

It's like that old lady, who names every dog the same, and probably believes they all really are the same dog.

If only our weirdest people today had cybernetic engineering skills then they could at least be revolutionary weirdos!

I've just started the episode, but referencin ETA Hoffmann's The Sandman in the planet name was a weird choice. Coppelius was not just a maker of automatons, he was secretive and devious, responsible for the madness of the protagonist and the death of his father.
I must have been too tired when I first saw the episode in the morning, but there is a second reference to The Sandman: the sandman himself is a mythical figure who reputedly takes the eyes of children who do not sleep. All throughout the story, there are references to eyes and eyesight, and IIANM, Coppelius is seen with human-like figures without eyes. The fact that Archana was stabbed through "her beautiful eye" relates back to the story again.

Granddads and grand children who are identical?

If he really is a Soong...

1. Clones.
2. Suspended animation/timetravel forward.
3. Immortality.

I'd prefer it to be Lore. Another Soong that's an ass hole is too much. Like Data is the only one who's not. Well maybe Noonian but even he had is moments.

I've watched every single episode of every single show and I've never seen anyone act so warmly towards a murderer in any of the other shows. Even Lon Suder wasn't treated all that warmly.

The Picard crew forgave her awfully quickly.
Garak: " It's just that lately I've noticed that everyone seems to trust me. It's quite unnerving. I'm still trying to get used to it. Next thing I know, people are going to be inviting me to their homes for dinner. "

Star Trek androids frequently have the same locations for weaknesses that biological humanoids do. The head. Organs. Anything close to or connected to the brain.
Data temporarily shut down after a long rod or sword-like weapon was driven through his body and had to be reactivated and revived aboard the Enterprise-D, possibly in "Thine Own Self(TNG)."
Temporarily being operative. I don’t think something mechanical would be “dead” from that level of damage. Data had his head blown off and reattached 500 years later. A poke in the eye doesn’t seem public funeral worthy. More like repair bay. Unless death is permanent because they are organic living things.

Sorry, I was reminded of Spock's comment after Rand was almost raped by Kirk's evil side. So funny.

ETA: Or how quickly Garak and Dukat were worked with by the DS9 crew.

First, I'm totally not buying that "Machines can do mindmelds" thing, but I know the show's detractors are going to be way more mad about that than me, so I'm going to ignore it for now.

That's a neat twist, that the warning that machines will kill humans is actually a directional manual for machines on how to kill humans. I predicted earlier that Soji's people would decide to do violence against humans and Soji and Picard would have to work together to prevent both sides from killing each other, looks like that's what's going to happen.

I really hope that Picard and Soji are successful in crafting an understanding.

I'm okay with the change in attitude toward Agnes, because she took responsibility and was going to hand herself over for murder. And I think the machines understood that she was affected by the psychic message.

Yeah, the Soong Y chromosome is damn strong.
