Data killed a lot of cats.

(On TNG, the gender switched once or twice.)

There's no way that that is only Spot 2.

As did its breed. Spot was a completely different breed at one point and nothing was ever said about it onscreen.

So the organics want to kill all the synthetics and the synthetics want to kill all organics. What's next, the synthetics will destroy all but a small fleet of organics that will make a journey to find the 13th tribe on Earth only to make peace at the end and settle down to reproduce into a hybrid species?

This io9 review sees much more in the episode that would make for an interesting theme for the show:

Too bad, it's there but not really there or fully explored, especially with the titular character. TPTB may intend some deeper, philosophical discussion on Utopia in the show, but it's just not there in the episodes. Not even a (sigma) iota.

Chabon has a vision for the show, and I'm not sure its translating well to the screen.

Spinner’s character could be Lore. I don’t buy this son nonsense
Hmm hard to say, he could be his son, a clone or Lore, the technology is certainly available for any of those options.

At this point I will take it at face value and say it really is his son, whether he just thinks he is or not.

He might just be a clone, we know his ancestor Arik was big into genetics.

Who would watch that show? :wtf:

I don't know, building an android duplicate of his dead wife is kinda creepy, no?
Good point. It's not kinda creepy. It is very creepy.

Noonien didn't kill anyone or hold any living people hostage, neither. I'll take the weird "replica of my late wife" fetish over what Arik and now Alton have been doing.
Well there was that one time he wanted to give Data something so he remotely had him hijack a starship and fly to his hermitage, thus endangering the life of that kid in sickbay while effectivly holding the whole crew hostage in their own ship. ;)
I mean he could have just called via subspace like a normal person...or used space UPS...
