First Contact Day 2020

Wendall

Ensign
Newbie
Greetings Everyone,
My Name is Chris (they call me Wendall) and I’ve been a Trekkie my entire life. I was just curious how people have celebrated First Contact (April 5th) Day in the past, and who what and where people may be celebrating this year. This year, I’m making the “Trek” to Bozeman Montana to celebrate this year! I have no plan, just gonna explore the place on the day. Any thoughts or opinions about the whole concept of celebrating first contact day is appreciated and thank you all for any thoughts, and for having me on the site! cheers!

@James you do out rank me here, but as far as I know that’s the actual day. April 5th 2063 if I’m not mistaken.

I've only been here a little while. I hardly out rank anyone haha.

Yeah but I just didn't know if people actually celebrated first contact within the star trek community?

I’m still a cadet.
I was actually surprised I couldn’t find anything about people celebrating in Bozeman.
I’ll be honest,I assumed there were enough hard core trekkies around, this would still be a thing. I’m mildly nervous your right and it’s not a thing really. Lol

I haven't even been on the forum for 2 weeks haha So there are probably others who will post and let you know if they celebrate it or not :)

Understandable, if my parents named me ten million, ten thousand and one,I’d probally be a degenerate too..I was thinking more like sushi (good spot in bozeman, called dave’s, and drink a Romulan ale. Rumplemintz and blue caraco,

In ASCII, 1,001,001 is "2". Since there's no such number as "2" in binary. :D

Be glad the name isn't 1,010,011,010. Converted to Decimal, it means "666".

Oh, we can get the 666 result with the 1001001 number, too. All we'd have to do is assume it is expressed in base-n , where n = ( (sqrt(665.25) - 0.5 ) ^(1/3). = (approx) 2.9353749....

(Number systems based on irrational numbers as above are possible, just not seen that often. They do have a few additional quirks over traditional integer -n based systems, too ).

First Contact Day? Celebrating? Nah. I don't even celebrate Captain Picard Day (because to me, every day is Captain Picard Day)... ;)

Don’t even joke about that! I’m starting to think we do live in the mirror universe!
Ok, well the tribe has spoken,I’m a complete nutter for wanting to spend April 5th in Bozeman. It is a good excuse to eat the best sushi in Montana, and get drunk with my buddies (who aren’t into Star Trek at all!) preflight Zefram Cochrane would be proud!
