Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

How is that Cruise doing with the virus outbreak? I was close to going on it. I imagine it’s very subdued.

Not a fan of the idea that Vulcans/Romulans are biological androids like nu-bsg. It seems to be plausible but hope that is not the way they go with it. Would feel very unoriginal and derivative

I dunno if I could go on with the series if they went that direction with BOTH Romulans and Vulcans or just Vulcans. Either one of those would be just a bridge to far.

If they wanted to do it with just Romulans I could probably buy that but with reservations.

The idea that the Vulcan race are some type of biological android (ala BSG) is interesting to me. It'd make sense as to why they're so mystical, like the transferring of memories and revival of Spock. It'd make sense thematically and kind of prove what Picard always said, about how Androids could become a race of sentient human beings.
It would explain mind melds and neck pinches if their fingertips work like advanced electrodes

Wikipedia is listing the title of the 2 part season finale as "Et in Arcadia Ego".

I don't know what it means in Latin but it is the name of a famous painting:

I like it. It's full of possibilities, including the (IMO) kind of juvenile "logic above everything else" stance whereas any advanced species should've figured out how bogus that stance is. Sort of an adolescent AI rebellion, if that makes any sense.

On that note, I'd hate for the show to become too derivative of BSG, which had more than a note of adolescent AI rebellion itself. But in the world we live in, where humans are rarely seen separate from their phones, it seems inevitable that the lines between people and software become irrevocably blurred.

Arcadia is not far from here XD

Marina Sirtis really, really needs to ditch her agent. She is just as important, and at least as good, as Frakes in this episode, and there is no excuse for her being lumped in with the other guest stars in the end credits, while he is given "special guest star" status in the opening creds. Frakes, juding from his interview in The Ready Room, knows how good she was, so I'm sure the directors and producers know, too.

Ugh, wrong thread and I still can't edit! Was supposed to go in the episode thread.

Yes, agreed. The hint was that Riker said "I'm still on active reserve", not "WE are still..."

Maybe starfleet no longer uses ships counselors.:techman:
Well, in case of imminent danger, a captain may be more needed than a counselor... Although, you never know, maybe she could out-empathize the villains! Drive Rizzo to madness with loving understanding! "I give up. Please just stop talking about my feelings, please!" ;-)
