Usually they get them from a bottle.... or perhaps Chris never imagined that someone on his ship would actually ask for a hypo of dangerous chemicals.

I like this interpretation too, but I think he was eyeing Raffi quite suspiciously when she called him back to the bridge after Narek found them again. I might be thinking too much into his expression though.Rios never suspected Raffi. When he was talking to Agnes, he pretended to not know why Raffi came back to the ship. He was trying to draw Agnes out.
As Nepenthe is an Earth word, that would be the biggest coincidence since Romulus and Remus were discovered by the Federation.
Yeah, I was considering both interpretations when watching that scene. It was ambiguous.I like this interpretation too, but I think he was eyeing Raffi quite suspiciously when she called him back to the bridge after Narek found them again. I might be thinking too much into his expression though.
She might have received the shirt from Uncle Worf.Could Nepenthe be a Klingon world? It would explain Kestra's Sex-Pistols-in-the-original-Klingon shirt. I tried to find if 'penthe' meant something in Klingon, but couldn't. i.e. Rurapenthe, Nepenthe, etc...
"I'm not as brave as I used to be." (sorry if I got this wrong)
I can't say how much I love this line for the amount of truth is says about parenting.
Nah, Cousin Alexander. She might have received the shirt from Uncle Worf.

He saw Raffi give Agnes the cake and then she threw up, next thing he knows Juarti is in a coma.I like this interpretation too, but I think he was eyeing Raffi quite suspiciously when she called him back to the bridge after Narek found them again. Except it was quite obvious Dahj was specifically programmed to trust Picard. Dahj even said she never saw him before.
Why didn't Soji get this programming?

That's very possible.
Just to be puckish, isn't "Because Roddenberry said so" kinda a religious attitude, and a fundamentalist one at that?
Star Trek is not a religion and Roddenberry is not the Pope or a prophet, let alone infallible.
As most of the scripts he penned directly for TOS and TNG often demonstrate.Roddenberry also wasn't very consistent with many of these ideas, and was as likely as not to pull a "Do as I say not as I do" when it came to the franchise.
It's true that the novel is not canon, and at any time it's continuity could be overwritten by the show. But the novel was also written in concert with the creators of the show, and reflects the thinking of the shows writers as recently. Jurati can be assumed to have medical training based on what we saw in episodes 5 and 7, and based on what Chabon said, as well as this novel. She's a doctorate of cybernetics, not medicine. The MD's only in the noncanon novel, which is about as canon as say, Star Trek Countdown is now.
If Jurati's a medical doctor in Picard due to a non-canon novel, then the supernova that destroyed Romulus was Hobus due to a non canon comic. You can't pick and choose your noncanon.
Spock in The Undiscovered Country. Yes, it happens. Vulcans have been demonstrated a willingness to go to extremes when it comes to killing. There is no way a Vulcan does that or mind melds without permission.
