In TNG, Riker pontificated about how superior 24th century humans are because they no longer enslave and kill animals for food. I guess free-range venomous rabbits are okay.

Kor
I wonder if Bunnicorn's fart Rainbows?
:shifty:

You know what, if they incorporate that into PIC, that getting Data killed through Shinzons actions because he was always near Picard, I think that would seriously be a great thing.

Picard: Ok, Soji, time for you to catch up on your family history! Aside from Data, here are bios on your uncles Lore and B4! Lore has a huge history with your friend Hugh. Hmm, I have this strange feeling I should check up on him. Anyways, he enslaved a bunch of Borg including Hugh, turned your father evil for a few days and made him conduct ghastly experiments on our chief engineer. He also killed your grandfather, Dr. Noonien Soong who built Data, Lore, and B4, stole your father's emotions chip, tried to take over my ship, and conducted damaging experiments on Hugh's friends.

Now about B4. His foolishness led to your father's death. Thus he ended up in a drawer in the Daystrom Institute where he remains to this day. Hopefully no one will do that to you, but then again you're organic.

Oh and I have issues with the man who built you, Bruce Maddox. I never forgot the time he tried to turn your father into a pile of scrap for his research. Oh and he's dead now.

Never met Noonien, but he was an odd sort who tried to resurrect his wife as an android. You could ask Riker about him who met him for all of 3 minutes. I don't know if Mrs. Soong survived the synth ban. And you don't even want to know about Noonien's ancestor Arik...

Soji: ...

Way too complicated a plot but that redeems Nemesis for me.

As a TNG Sequel, I really don't like Nemesis. But as a PIC Prequel, it isn't bad. The direction of how I look at it changes my perception of it. "This is how it ends?!" vs. "So that's how things were before".

Someone could say I should just judge it on its own merits. But, on its own merits, I feel pretty indifferent about the film.

Could Nepenthe be a Klingon world? It would explain Kestra's Sex-Pistols-in-the-original-Klingon shirt. I tried to find if 'penthe' meant something in Klingon, but couldn't. i.e. Rurapenthe, Nepenthe, etc...

As Nepenthe is an Earth word, that would be the biggest coincidence since Romulus and Remus were discovered by the Federation.

Her project is in AI. That's not remotely connected to medicine. And even if she had an MD, she might not be licensed to practice. But there's no confirmation she has an MD on screen, and assuming her knowledge gives her an MD is like saying Alfred's medical care of Batman away from hospitals means he must have an MD.
Cybernetics. Building artificial humans. It is kinda related to medicine.

Especially if you want them to be organic, which if I recall correctly was Maddox's goal.
Are you talking to me? I was talking about medical opinions and then you jumped to talking about wanting something to be organic. We are outright told Agnes had no part in the creation of organic androids Soji and Dahj.

I quoted the person I was responding too, It's right there in my post.

Jurarti was working with Maddox on developing organic androids, even if she didn't work on Soji and Dahj.

Holodeck safety protocols. There's usually a command level override to get around those. Why would a replicator be different?

I can't even re-enter a shopping entry on self-checkout in the real world without a supermarket clearance code from an employee. Again, this isn't Agnes' ship. If Rios were the one ordering the dangerous chemicals, I have no doubt he could do it as he's the captain.
... or perhaps Chris never imagined that someone on his ship would actually ask for a hypo of dangerous chemicals.

Nemesis represented, for lack of a better term, a life fracture for Picard. The only one prior to that is probably when he got run through with the knife/dagger and got his artificial heart. Q highlights that that was the moment when the seeds of the Picard we all know were sewn, after his brush with death.

Prior to that he of course had people die in his service, but it was always more disconnected, more impersonal. Jack Crusher died under Picards command, but we can presume that he did not die *for* Picard.

Data straight up looked at Picard, Picard at him, and beamed him out, and there was no way for PIcard to get around the fact that an utterly unique person and probably his closest friend on the Enterprise had just sacrificed himself *for him*.

Not for the Enterprise as a whole, but by and large, directly for Picard.

And his life was completely different after.
